It's unfortunate that Goodbye Berlin tends to fall back on coming-of-age traits, because the things that work work well, and the comedy in the film is so warm-hearted and situational that you end up wanting to like the film more.

Rather than feel circumstantial, every tedious situation our protagonists find themselves in feels more like the result of writers desperately vying to come up with ideas, rather than follow any real natural flow.

Tschick ist ein Roadmovie von Fatih Akin, nach dem gleichnamigen Romans von Wolfgang Herrndorf. Eine Geschichte von zwei jugendlichen Außenseitern auf Roadtrip, gespielt von den Jungdarsteller Tristan Göbel und Anand Batbileg. Tschick ist ein flotter und cleverer Film mit Witz und Ernst… . Tschick in seiner Machart ein sehenswerter Film.

This German road movie is a likable comedy/drama that reminded me a little bit of French gem Microbe & Gasoline, though without the same winning charm and humour of that movie. Goodbye Berlin has a few surprises throughout its road trip and occasionally heightened my curiosity, but couldn't sustain it.
