Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com This isn't the kind of tour-de-force that's going to blow you away. It's simply effective storytelling brought to life nicely by a talented ensemble and an up-and-coming cinematic voice in Nicola Rose. Oct 7, 2023 Full Review Joel Fisher Battle Royale With Cheese The message at the end is a good one and something that romantic comedies may not often cover. The trouble is that in order to get there, the audience has to endure many cringeworthy moments which may leave them not caring so much about what happens. Sep 17, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

Dan H "Goodbye, Petrushka" is a quirky, heartfelt drama that blends humor with a unique visual style. The film follows a young woman’s journey to Paris, where her encounters with a figure skater bring both laughter and life lessons. Casey Landman shines as Julia, delivering hilarious moments in every scene. Director Nicola Rose creates a colorful, surreal atmosphere that blurs the line between reality and fantasy, adding depth to the story's emotional core. With a memorable cast, creative cinematography, and clever animated sequences, the film captures the challenges of love, self-discovery, and the bittersweet nature of personal growth. Charming, funny, and thought-provoking, Goodbye, Petrushka is a refreshing, indie gem that deserves a watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/28/24 Full Review Ruby C Goodbye, Petrushka is a charming story about the sometimes painful journey of finding one self and looking for love. Claire, a quirky and likable film student, is trying to find her place in a world that has a lot of judgments on her creative ideas. The writer and director, Nicola Rose, has very creative ways to tell this story which makes this not your typical rom-com, it is unpredictable, surprising, and a really fun watch. I love the way she mixes story telling elements of animation which told the story in a natural and out-of-the-box way. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/03/24 Full Review Micah C If you're on the lookout for a delightful indie film that breaks the mold of typical romantic comedies, Goodbye, Petrushka is the perfect pick! This refreshing movie follows Claire, a sweet and somewhat naïve character, as she navigates the ups and downs of life and love. With its witty humor and relatable moments, the film captures the essence of pursuing one's dreams while embracing the messiness of adulthood. The chemistry between Claire and her supporting cast, especially Julia, is spot on, making their journey feel genuine and heartfelt. Director Nicola Rose delivers a beautifully crafted story, complete with a fantastic soundtrack and a unique blend of cultures. With laughter, poignant moments, and an unexpected depth, this film reminds us of the joys of taking chances and finding ourselves. Don't miss out on this charming gem; it's sure to leave you smiling! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/26/24 Full Review Bijan D Great film... The Director Nicola Rose makes brave choices that work. The quirky acting by Lizzie Kehoe is highly engaging. Also, fine performances by Vieljeux, Zhao, Landman and Haddad . Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/19/23 Full Review Kyle S Goodbye, Petrushka is an excellent drama that is heartfelt and fun...while at the same time, extremely funny! A young woman goes to Paris and spends time with a figure skater. He is intrigued by her and...the story unfolds. The story is very well written and, unpredictable. The production was top notch. Excellent direction, cinematography, acting etc. The animated sequences were well done also. I must say that the performance given by Casey Landman as Julia was phenomenal and she was absolutely hilarious! She really made me laugh, so much, in just about every scene she was in! Writer/Director Nicola Rose deserves recognition as this is an excellent movie. Give it a watch, you won't be disappointed! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/09/23 Full Review Rick I Wholesome AF Puppet shows, paris, and puppy love, what more can you ask for? This film follows the story of a young woman who moves to Paris on a whim to follow her puppetry dream and has lots to learn about love and her place in the world. Let's talk about the lead: she has a huge smile that makes you want to hug her desperately, but also some of the best deadpan lines I've seen in a while. She had me laughing out loud. Also, this is gonna sound crazy, but the filmmakers found a leading man who is also a super talented figure skater and his work is on full display here. Best friend also had some great one liners. The lighting is great. The drone photography is top notch. The score is reminiscent of a music box and plays out almost entirely by solo piano. It's splendid. The writing is hilarious and at times introspective. The script also knows when to hold back and leaves you with an ending that may not be what you want, but it's exactly what you need.
