Socially awkward high schooler Gretchen Finkle (Courtney Davis), despite her shy ways, falls head over heels for Ricky Marichino (John Merriman), the motorcycle-riding class troublemaker. Her obsession with the bad boy and jealousy of his girlfriend, Marla (Yasmine Kittles), become so overwhelming that her well-meaning mother (Becky Ann Baker) commits her to a mental health clinic. Abandoning therapy, Gretchen vows to sort out her emotional problems on her own before the junior prom.
