Justin Lowe The Hollywood Reporter Shea assembles many of the requisite elements of a contemporary crime drama, but orchestrates them so chaotically that audiences may be put off by the film's unwelcome onslaught of stale genre techniques. May 1, 2017 Full Review Gary M. Kramer Salon.com "Grey Lady" may be an undemanding film, but it is consistently absorbing; a perfect Friday night flick that one can easily get sucked into watching. Apr 30, 2017 Full Review Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times Aims for the gravity of such other Bay State-set mystery-thrillers as "Mystic River" and "Gone Baby Gone," but barely scratches the surface of those far more elevated films. Apr 27, 2017 Full Review Daniel Eagan Film Journal International Boasts a better-than-average cast of movie and TV veterans who are rendered powerless by an ugly, farfetched plot. Ravi R One of the most disjointed and odd movies I’ve seen in a long time. Terminated viewing halfway. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/08/25 Full Review Hannah W Difficult to really articulate how bad this film was. The positive reviews on here have to be written by John Shea himself, because I don’t think anyone else could possibly watch that and think “that’s good cinema that is, nailed it”. Terrible film, plot, music, acting, effects. The best part of it was the ending; because that hell was over. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/08/25 Full Review Chad T A rather disturbing psychological drama about betrayal, murder, revenge and family. Shea does a great job with direction & writing. Dane, Madigan, Zea, Lester, Meyer all do great in their roles as does Gayheart (although short lived). The standout for me was Stotesbery who plays the mixed up Eli or is it B…. In any case, since you’re watching from the 4th wall you kind of figure out before the characters do, but it’s still a good story. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/07/25 Full Review Joel E The worst movie I have ever seen. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/05/25 Full Review Richard D Doesn't get much worse than this. Bad story and even worse acting Funny thing was it was so bad I had to see the end Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/05/25 Full Review Death D Plot is unnecessarily convoluted, with unrealistic scenarios and characters that don't make any sense. The acting is stiff and clicked. Movie fails to reach a real climax, the mystery is revealed early on, and the rest of the film is largely predictable. A hard watch and unsatisfying.
