Groundswell is the stirring final chapter of a groundbreaking documentary trilogy following Kiss the Ground and Common Ground, a sweeping cinematic journey across 5 continents and narrated by Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson. At the heart of this film is regeneration, a practical and proven set of farming practices that build living soil, store vast amounts of carbon deep underground, and produce more nutrient-dense food on the same acre of land. It is measurable. This movement toward a regenerative form of agriculture that's better for human health is taking hold. Across the globe, farmers, scientists, Indigenous leaders, and visionaries are already proving it at scale, quietly reversing three interconnected crises racing toward humanity: climate change, species extinction, and catastrophic soil loss. Carbon is being drawn deep into the earth. Grasslands are breathing again. Rivers are running clean. Species are returning. Yields are climbing as soil comes back to life. In the film's closing moments, His Majesty Prince William steps forward to introduce pioneering regenerative rancher Gabe Brown, passing the torch from one generation of stewards to the next. A groundswell of hope and a living blueprint for global renewal. Together, Kiss the Ground (narrated by Woody Harrelson, with Gisele Bündchen, Tom Brady, and Patricia Arquette), Common Ground (featuring Laura Dern, Jason Momoa, Rosario Dawson, Donald Glover, and Woody Harrelson), and Groundswell form an Earth-saving trilogy tracking the regenerative agriculture story from ignition to reckoning to culmination. Kiss the Ground brought soil health into the mainstream through a big-tent, celebrity-and-scientist narrative. Common Ground pushed past the "why" into the "what's blocking it," spotlighting policy, power, and public health while elevating farmer-led solutions and systems accountability. Groundswell closes the arc, connecting the solutions for climate change, species loss, and soil loss into one global call for regeneration.

The music is danceable, the editing is sprightly. There’s an idealist’s energy here that grows a bit too earnest, but the information is accessible. And basic. Even home gardeners might dig it, as they contemplate buying chickens. Go to Full Review

By harnessing the upbeat energy of its participants and providing audiences with the information to help them support and reward farmers leading the regenerative revolution, the film provides an accessible call to action. Go to Full Review

It’s commendable for showcasing not just proposed solutions but effective efforts to reverse the threat...However, it’s the kind of documentary that packs in so much information that it’s still as overwhelming as any doom-and-gloom issue film. Go to Full Review

This film is the third in a trilogy and may be the best yet, thanks to its expansive ambition and globally inclusive framework. Go to Full Review

For a film advocating for change, we hereby advocate for a change in this kind of middling production, focusing instead on a multiplicity of competing voices rather than simply a feel-good survey of cherry-picked stories that buttress a given argument. Go to Full Review

Ceceile J @RT89392719 Jun 29 The first two films of the directors Rebecca and Joshua Tickell's trilogy stand very well on their own, and their award-winning film, Groundswell, is no exception. Directors Rebecca and Joshua Tickell are so skilled at creating an experience that works well as an introduction for those new to the regenerative agriculture conversation, as well as at capturing the movement's growth and expansion for returning viewers. The film takes a journey to visit thriving regenerative farms around the world. It captures the narrative that naturally unfolds from following with such consideration. With recurring appearances of farmer and prominent figure in the regenerative moment, Gabe Brown, advocating for farmers and sharing his story of the work he has done and continues to do for the regenerative movement. The film wonderfully showcases how grand the movement has become and how many passionate people are dedicating their lives to saving the planet, nourish the land, and support farmers. What I loved most is that it doesn't just focus on the challenges. It shows real people and real solutions already making a difference around the world. From carbon markets to tree-based agriculture, this film reminded me that regeneration isn't just something for the future. It's already happening all around the world. It's also the kind of film that leaves you noticing something new each time you watch it. Groundswell left me feeling motivated to keep learning, keep sharing and keep helping spread this message. Do yourself a favour and boycott - given how boring it manages to be, you'd be doing yourself a favour. See more Finian M @Finianmakepeace Jun 17 This film not only gives the audience a very clear understanding of what regeneration of soil is but also why it is so critical for human health, carbon sequestration, replenishing fresh water, increasing biodiversity, and building resilience to flood, fire, and drought, in our landscapes. What makes it even more critical is that it brings the audience around the world providing clear and reliable evidence that regenerative agriculture can be used anywhere by any scale of agriculture to heal our world. Must watch if you want to understand there is a way forward for humanity on this planet. We can be stewards of this earth and heal it. And, it can happen faster than we ever thought possible.
