While it's almost certainly the movie event of the year for filmgoers passionate about deer urine humor, Grown Ups 2 will bore, annoy, and disgust audiences of nearly every other persuasion.

Drew Hunt Chicago Reader Sandler's films have always been stupid, but the early stuff is pretty harmless; here the jokes almost always come at the expense of someone else, the kind of needless bullying one expects of a YouTube comment section. Jul 28, 2014 Full Review Simon Crook Empire Magazine [A] slothful, indulgent sequel that sees a once-great screen comedian hit self-inflicted Sandlergeddon. Rated: 1/5 Jul 28, 2014 Full Review Jake Wilson Sydney Morning Herald Rob Schneider, the butt of many jokes in the first Grown-Ups, is nowhere to be seen. Salma Hayek, as Lenny's wife, looks understandably tense and irritable throughout. Rated: 1.5/5 Jul 28, 2014 Full Review James Croot The Post NZ However, strip away the rare moments of humility and championing of small town life and you're left with what is simply a series of sexist and scatological vignettes... Rated: 1.5/5 Aug 7, 2023 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies This film incited more facepalms and head-shakes than laughs, and the script feels like something Sandler could have scribbled on the palm of his hand. Rated: 0.5/5 Aug 21, 2022 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com Grown Ups 2 won't please a good majority of the film critics, but it's not a film for the film critics. Carter M There really isn’t much of a plot but my god is it funny like if you don’t like this movie you just don’t have a good sense of humor. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/17/25 Full Review Dustin T Grown Ups 2 takes everything fun about the first movie and cranks it up. From the bus driver and the fake toilet in Kmart (“Get out of me!”) to the rock quarry jump where Kevin James lands on David Spade (“I was inside you”), it’s just wall-to-wall ridiculousness. It’s the kind of movie you watch with friends when you want to laugh at dumb jokes, awkward moments, and people doing stuff you’d never get away with in real life. I love all Adam sandler movies, I could watch it a hundred times and still crack up every single time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/11/25 Full Review MR. G POINTLESS !!! Even tho Grown Ups 2 (2013) is only a comedy there was absolute no point for it. The jokes are really plank with the college and parents jokes is just terrible and the movie comedy has nothing to offer unless you just like the characters like the first movie has a great cast but other then that is just doesn’t offer anything. 2/10 some jokes would give a chuckle but nothing else Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/10/25 Full Review Riley F Extremely fun. Comedy is the strongest point Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/10/25 Full Review Tom G I love Adam Sandler but dear god was this a low even for his standards Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/28/25 Full Review Vicky M Wtf? Not funny in the least bit and actually disturbing at some points. The deer pissing on a naked teen in the shower? Maya Rudolph calling an infant her lover? The weird ass slapping scene? Turned the movie off 1/3 of the way through whoever wrote this is a weirdo and should probably be on a list somewhere. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/25/25 Full Review Read all reviews
