Lionel Barrymore plays Richard Grant, a lawyer who quickly finds out that his client and friend, Gordon Rich, will be marrying his young daughter after his 16 year old mistress jumped out the window. Rich announces the wedding to his girlfriend but reassures her that he's only marrying Grant's daughter so he can sleep with her. Fearing for his life, Rich orders two servants to spy on Grant, but Grant uses a cutout mounted on a record player to cast a silhouette on the curtain to make it appear that he is pacing restlessly, and goes after Rich. You don't see too many movies like this anymore. Suicide, murder, adultery, and tomfoolery are key elements which make this movie so entertaining. I am very surprised you can't find this on more streaming services. C'mon Netflix! I love Lionel Barrymore in this. He's a villain with shades of gray. Kay Francis' slightly "off" performance is perfect, and Madge Evans is always charming.
