Kshitij K This is one of the few Bollywood movies that demonstrate how businesses were done in post British independent India. You can feel love between Guru and his wife, however, acting leaves something to be desired. The spellbinding background score by AR Rahman is the backbone of this movie in my opinion. Overall a good watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Both mass and classic! Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai did a great work. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review yash b "Guru" is a solid movie that shows that Abhishek Bachchan is a first-rate actor. His performance is definitely the main reason to check this movie out. It spans many years and seeing him play this role is fascinating. I do feel that the movie has segments of time where it really slows down but for the most part, I was at least interested by the story. It's not a must-see Bollywood movie but it is an interesting one that I think it worth checking out at least once. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member You might think it would be difficult to fashion an entertaining account of the life of a polyester manufacturer, even a fictitious one. But director Mani Ratnam has done so with "Guru," an epic paean to can-do spirit and Mumbai capitalism. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a fantastic movie and a beautiful love story. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member A very well made flick.... And brilliant cinematography. Abhishek, Mithun and R. Madhavan all give stunning performances. Aishwarya Rai too has done a good but not a great job. However the climax ain't much like a Mani Ratnam movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Namrata Joshi Outlook The gait, the mannerisms, the voice, the diction, even the smile-everything is so overtly mannered and contrived that you know the boy is trying very hard at "acting" than actually becoming the character. Rated: 2/4 Jan 23, 2019 Full Review Anil Sinanan Times (UK) It is certainly one of the best Bollywood movies you will see in 2007. Rated: 4/5 Feb 5, 2007 Full Review Maitland McDonagh Time Out Filmmaker Mani Ratnam leavens his trademark politically charged melodrama with a smoking belly dance by sultry Mallika Sherawat and a wet-sari number for the stunning Rai. Rated: 3/6 Feb 3, 2007 Full Review Sakhi Thirani Common Sense Media Guru brings together A. R. Rahman's tasteful tunes with Gulzar's lyrics, and these combined with its powerful cast makes it not a mere movie but a milestone in Bollywood cinema. Rated: 4/5 Sep 13, 2023 Full Review Raam Tarat Future Movies UK Mani Ratnam is a master film-maker, in fact, he's probably the best. Definitely the most revered - and India's answer to Spielberg. Rated: 4.5/5 Oct 30, 2017 Full Review David Chute L.A. Weekly The film is a triumph of casting: In a role that is often about the sheer steamrolling force of his character's personality, Abishek Bachchan's attention to detail makes Guru accessible rather than intimidating, admirable but also plausible.
