What to Know

Critics Consensus

Hair High isn't first-tier Plympton, but like the rest of the animator's work, this is an assuredly odd tale that should resonate with fans of strange cinema.

Plympton's fourth feature film is also his least inspired, but it's still very much worth a look. Go to Full Review

06/18/2013 Even though the movie is seriously messed up, it is still a fresh story with good elements. See more 05/01/2011 Plympton's visual inventiveness may have faded a little, but this teen movie on acid is still one of the most insane things out there. See more 04/24/2011 fucked up but try to sit through it. See more 12/02/2010 Not okay. Not okay. I remember liking this guy's stuff when I was 13 years old. Apparently I grew up and he didn't. This movie is an animated wet dream/nightmare of any freshman in high school, and apparently was written by one as well. To think that this is the work of a grown man is staggering. The cast is full of great people, but the movie is more than a misfire. Perhaps I'll give Mr. Plympton one more shot before I write him off completely... See more Read all reviews
