What to Know

Critics Consensus

Minimalist in presentation while getting great mileage out of Rosamund Pike and Matthew Rhys' superb performances, Hallow Road is a nerve-wracking thriller that takes audiences down a haunting path.

Peter Travers The Travers Take Two people talking in a car. Hardly the stuff of white-knuckle drama, right? It is when you hitch two phenomenal actors, Rosamund Pike and Matthew Rhys, to a suspenseful script and tightly coiled direction by Babak Anvari, and then let them rip. Rated: 3/4 Oct 31, 2025 Full Review Matt Zoller Seitz RogerEbert.com At the same time, however, none of the stuff that has to be protected for the sake of the audience’s viewing pleasure is actually worth protecting. Rated: 1.5/4 Oct 31, 2025 Full Review Lindsey Bahr Associated Press Ultimately, it’s an effectively minimalistic thriller that leaves much room for interpretation and debate, and a good option for anyone looking for something creepy to watch this Halloween without the gore. Rated: 3/4 Oct 29, 2025 Full Review Kat Halstead Common Sense Media There are surprises throughout and an unexpected twist toward the end, which will keep viewers on their toes, but the final few minutes may lose the faith of more pragmatic viewers. Rated: 4/5 Nov 4, 2025 Full Review Charles Johnston Spectrum Culture An eerie film with a ghostly atmosphere that can be interpreted many different ways, where every possible scenario is a nightmare. Nov 4, 2025 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru A lean, taut and atmospheric horror thriller. Nov 1, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Mr Hollywood As a double feature I had a blast. Miss these types of screenings. “Vincent Must Die” was average for me. Nothing special. Seems the director didn’t know or couldn’t think of an explanation so just left it as whatever. “Hallow Road” was the better film. Mysterious and intriguing. I have my idea about it but overall in the moment I was locked in. I went with it and had a great time. Overall I wish they would do more double features. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/06/25 Full Review Paul W Annoying acting with no resolution in the ending. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/08/25 Full Review Chantal F A slow burn that demands to be fully embraced. With gentle hints of a parental relationship — fragile, complex, and raw — Hallow Road quietly draws you in. It wills you to push down on the accelerator as the father drives, a physical echo of the emotional tension simmering beneath the surface. The film plays with your mind in subtle, unnerving ways, especially in its closing moments — leaving you questioning what is real and what isn’t. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/08/25 Full Review Carlos E. The beginning of this movie feels like it’s a student project. The acting feels unnatural, it feels like they are delivering lines and not actually living in the moment. Fortunately, the tension produced by some of the scenes makes up for it. I liked the use of screen reflections in the car, it made the fact that the movie is just two people sitting in a car more bearable. The ending was great, and the acting gets better as you near the climax of the movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/05/25 Full Review LoLo A. I actually watched this on Turkish Airlines and had never heard of it and when I got back to the US, I found out that it was a limited release on October 31. It wasn’t terrible, but there was a twist in the middle that kind of confused me cause when I got to the end of the movie, I was still a little confused. I wasn’t sure if this was a thriller or if it was supposed to be some sort of horror movie, but it kept my attention for an hour and 20 minutes…. And I’m still not sure if it was just because it was interesting or if it was because I had nothing else better to do then sit on a plane and watch it. My advice, if there’s nothing else to watch, go ahead and hit play….. but don’t expect the usual excellent performances from these actors Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/05/25 Full Review Ben H Got duped by RT and watched half-asses double-feature with Vincent, they both has interesting premise but couldn't deliver.
