An unknown serial killer is teasing the police by sending them video clips of his victims' deaths by hanging, all of them in the style of the childhood word game "Hangman." Detective Nick Roos (Lou Diamond Phillips), head of the team searching for the killer, learns that scandal-plagued psychiatrist Dr. Grace Mitchell (Madchen Amick) is the missing link that ties the victims together. Together, the cop and the shrink must race to trap the murderer before his game comes to an end.
