      Critics Consensus

While youthful Miley fans won't complain, Hannah Montana the Movie is little more than a formulaic Disney Channel episode stretched thin.

Catherine R I definitely loved this film when I first saw it. I loved Hannah Montana since the show came out. It came out when I was in the 6th grade and going through a rough time making friends at the catholic school I was going to and this show made me feel comfort. Then the film came out and I saw Taymor Swift and was like "hey she made that album with that "Tim McGraw" song. And it was comforting to see her playing another country song. I also lived that the same characters played their roles because The Lizzie McGuire film didn't have Miranda. So it was really awesome that Jackson, Oliver and Billy Ray even, were in the film. So much southern charm. And I'm also from the south so I am a bit biased. So no complaints from me. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/13/24 Full Review Ciaran S To be fair when i was a kid i remember watching the Hannah Montana show on the Disney Channel at grandma's house, that's the only time i was ever introduced to Miley Cyrus. So it's obvious she would get her own movie, it was passable at best but does have a few issues the only thing i would recommend to you is that if you're a longtime fan of Hannah Montana then maybe you could go check it out, but if you're not familiar with the show then all of the teen drama of the 2000s will leave a bad taste in your mouth. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/29/23 Full Review Trey W Not good and couldn't have been good when it came out. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 08/25/23 Full Review Luke G WARNING: DO NOT BUY VHS COPIES OF THIS MOVIE As a gift for my daughter's 12th birthday, I was able to find a relatively high quality VHS copy of this movie. Seeing as one of the bigger items on her birthday list was an older box TV with a built-in VHS slot, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to buy this movie when it stumbled upon it, seeing as it is one of her favorite movies of all time. Fast forward to the day after she got all of our gifts, she approached me asking for help in rewinding the tape so she could watch the movie from the start. Seeing that it had been used, it was never rewound from the post-credits, so I took the chance to explain to her some of the interesting facts about tapes and VHS as a whole. Needless to say she was quite fascinated by my impromptu lecture, and I stood by to watch her rewind her first VHS in excitement. Then things took a turn for the worst. You see, for some reason when you rewind the VHS copy of this movie with the volume on, there's a deep and lower-decibel hum that you captures your eardrums with force. On top of that, a high-frequency beeping pattern runs its course, one that seems to latch itself onto that low hum and ride it all the way into your skull. As I lunged to press STOP on the VHS, I noticed that my daughter was not displaying that joyous excitement prior to the rewind. In fact, even after I stopped the tape altogether, she stood as still as I have ever seen anyone stand, her eyes glued to the black TV screen - yet I could tell she was not looking to see. 5 minutes of furious shaking and yelling ensued as I attempted to wake her from this transient state. Realizing my efforts weren't working, I made a rush for the door to get my cellphone in a call for aid. But as I crossed the threshold of the wood-stained doorframe, she began to mutter something I couldn't make out at first. I approached her with some hesitation, and once I was close enough to make out her mumblings, I could do nothing but writhe in existential dread with each passing phrase. "Mind your manners, good fellow" "Be Mindful of the Deep Ravine" "The Strawberry Moon is rising in June" "Only a fool would wager that/Only a fool indeed" "Looks like hard rain tonight, and I've forgotten my coat" "Han Solo shot first" My god. The realization hit me in the gut. My own daughter was a sleeper agent, and this VHS copy of this movie played in reverse contained the sleeper cell activation steps. All of my attempts to awaken my daughter from this mindless looped phraseology were trivial at best. And once she had repeated the phrases 20 times over, she began to regain her sense of self, but that self was not the daughter I once knew and loved. She began to explain her undying devotion to the deep state, and that the greatest achievements call for the greatest of sacrifices. That people like JFK were just too much of a threat to the very foundations of western society, so he had to have been dealt with properly. That the Russians had to be fooled into believing we made it to the moon first. That the public was better off thinking Hitler was dead instead of knowing he was a forefather of popular furry communities on Reddit and 4chan. So yeah, this movie gets a one from me, I'm sure it's a nice little movie and all but Disney dropped the ball on this one. (And for legal reasons, if you haven't figured it out by now, this is clearly a fictional review and scenario intended for fair use by peers) Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/23/23 Full Review Bianca C AMAZING one of the best disney channel movies, when you watch this *remember* that these movies are made especially for children and despite belonging to that category it has a great image quality, they highlight the uniqueness of country music and the beauty of tenesse (where they recorded more part of the film) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
