      Critics Consensus

Happily N'Ever After has none of the moxy, edge, or postmodern wit of the other fairy-tales-gone-haywire CG movie it so blatantly rips off.

Alexis R When I saw this only had 6% on here, I was appalled. If you like/love Shrek, give this movie a chance please. I've loved this movie since I was a kid. It's seriously worth a watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/14/24 Full Review Mark M Happily N'ever after was total garbage. Dull animation and a dumb, horrendous storyline. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/26/23 Full Review Charles H What does this exist for? Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/16/23 Full Review Lord take food S One of my absolute favorite childhood movies. Sure the effects and the look of the film is groggy, sure the main characters might be predictable but mambo and munk carry the movie and are very relatable characters. On top of that sound track is fire. Most of the bad reviews are obviously adult views which of course is not the target demographic. Growing up with this, seeing it while I was young. Pretty good movie. I've also seen the sequels and rewatch the first one to this day as it is the best. Big fan. Ann Kelly BBC.com Clunkingly obvious. Rated: 2/5 Aug 3, 2007 Full Review Simon Braund Empire Magazine Shrek this ain't. A lacklustre effort hampered by limp dialogue and lazy plotting. Rated: 2/5 Aug 3, 2007 Full Review David Fear Time Out The computerised animation is cut-rate; the script keeps piling on clunker jokes that even toddlers will find lame; and Prinze proves he isn't any better an actor in two dimensions than he is in three. Rated: 1/6 Aug 1, 2007 Full Review Megan Basham WORLD Happily N'Ever After only proves that the idea of modernizing the Brothers Grimm for the sake of laughs may have finally jumped the shark.
