Adam Chapman Little White Lies There's a surprisingly heartfelt message behind the thuggish bravado. Rated: 3/5 Apr 29, 2016 Full Review Leslie Felperin Guardian Naturalistic performances and a sense of place are the film's strongest suit, along with a brisk approach to storytelling that propels things along to a predictable but not unsatisfying conclusion. Rated: 3/5 Apr 28, 2016 Full Review Anton Bitel Projected Figures That tension - between Margate's sink estate grit & flights of fancy, between naturalist crime story & sweet-natured morality fable... - is what gives Hard Tide its energy, but also, at times, makes it frustratingly uneven. Mar 5, 2017 Full Review Matt Looker Total Film The performances are charming, but this is no less effective as a violent, gritty crimer than it is as a sweet tale of friendship and redemption. Rated: 4/5 Jan 2, 2017 Full Review Allan Hunter Daily Express (UK) An ambitious and stylish attempt to bring something fresh to the familiar ingredients of the gritty, violent British crime thriller. Audience Member Brilliant film and gripping story with a nice message underneath. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A great UK crime thriller mixed with a tale of morality and heart. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member This is an independent production with b-movie level of acting but it managed to keep my attention until the end thanks to the convincing relationship between the 2 central characters, Jake and Jade. The basic story line follows a drug dealer who reluctantly inherits his father's criminal empire when his father is sent to prison, during which he takes responsibility for a young girl whose family have met with a tragic end. The rest of the film involves Jake attempting to escape the clutches of the local gangster / psychopath / part-time florist while trying to keep Jade safe. The psychopath in question is a very bad actor but luckily he is only on screen for a limited time. The other downside to the film are the fight sequences which look so fake it distracts the viewer from any threat the scene was hoping to evoke. I'm not sure about the title either, it sounds a little like a naff water based disaster movie Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
