In the action-comedy Heads of State, UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke (Idris Elba) and U.S. President Will Derringer (John Cena) have a public rivalry that jeopardizes their countries' "special relationship." But when they become targets of a ruthless foreign adversary, they must set aside their differences and begrudgingly rely on each other. After being shot down in Air Force One, Clarke and Derringer are forced to go on a dangerous, multinational run pursued by enemies intent on killing them. With the help of MI6 agent Noel Bisset (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), they must work together to thwart a global conspiracy that threatens the free world.

From a plane sequence, to several shoot-outs, to a helicopter sequence involving a bank vault, to an epic car chase through the streets of Italy... this film has really fun and entertaining action sequences that are worth watching.

Big, dumb action movies -- of which this is an adequate example -- certainly have their place, but the move to rebrand geopolitics as pulp entertainment is, I think we can all agree, not a particularly helpful development at this point in time.

An idea that had some promise of being a silly fun action movie, ran out of steam a 1/3 of the way in. The plot doesn't stray from the predicable and became monotonous.

A movie worth watching, I actually watched it twice and fully enjoyed it. However, I don't know if it's just me, but for some reason, I just cannot adapt to wrestlers becoming movie stars. While the Rock isn't so bad, I can never adapt to John Cena as an actor. The weight of the movie was totally on Idris Elba's back. It would have been better if The Rock had gotten the role. I would have given the movie 4.5 stars

If it weren’t for Idris Elba, this would’ve felt pretty bland and mediocre. He single-handedly carries the film. Not laugh-out-loud funny, but there’s enough action to keep it entertaining.
