Steve D Plays bigotry for laughs while being too unpleasant for generate any. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member It is a decent film with funny moments. Serious too. I like that it deals with serious racial tones head on. And the transformation on a deplorable racists into a semblance of a human being. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member The writing is all over the place. I couldn't figure out what's the point with the story, it continuously changes focus (and genres). It's saving grace are the two leads (Washington and Hopkins), specially Bob Hopkins, he's incredible as always. But, nothing can make this a good film. I wouldn't recommend watching this film, but I did enjoy parts of it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Funny hopeful orginal wholesomeness film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Great movie, watched it many times, on VHS. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Surprised to see how lenient the reviews are... Yes these are two great actors but this is at best a mediocre movie. All over the place, can't decide what it's intended to be and too long. What a mess. Even great actors make mistakes sometimes! Juan Carlos Coto Miami Herald The movie seems over a good half-hour before it ends and is forgotten even more quickly. Rated: 2/4 Aug 18, 2021 Full Review Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times The movie is all over the map, trying whatever seems to work at the moment. Rated: 2/4 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Hal Hinson Washington Post The film is caught somewhere between seriousness and cheesy exploitation. Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Joe Leydon The Moving Picture Show A surprisingly engaging action-comedy-fantasy that places greater emphasis on high-caliber acting than rapid-fire shootouts. Dec 28, 2020 Full Review Daniel Barnes Dare Daniel A casually racist murder-mystery (minus the mystery) that was rejected by both audiences and critics due to a chaotic tone, insipid comedy beats and clunky action scenes set to slap-bass and scat-singing.
