Critics Consensus

Hearts in Atlantis is well-acted and beautiful to look at, but the movie is nothing more than a mood piece.

Adrian M Contrary to critics' consensus, the movie touched me on the deep level. Reminiscing of one's childhood, plus usually great A. Hopkins act. Well written, stylishly coreographed. well directed. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/20/24 Full Review Pamela H I love this sweet tale of innocence and youth and magical redemption. If only more movies were made like this. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/29/23 Full Review Jelisije J A movie with so much heart and love that really makes you appreciate the innocence of childhood when you reach your adult years. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/13/23 Full Review clay k Mood piece or not, this is an underrated Stephen King story. Beautifully and thoughtfully shot, I enjoyed more than the aesthetic and acting. It has a heartfelt story if you pay close attention. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/06/23 Full Review Amanda G I don't know why this has such low ratings, I think it was a great movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/29/23 Full Review pcadima70 Beautiful story, amazing performance, difficult to describe how special this film was. I see many reviews where they read the book first and weren't happy with the movie but movies and books are two different things. The average ratings others give is a shock to me and I strongly encourage anyone to take a chance on what I feel is a masterpiece. It's the kind of movie you have to listen to each line to appreciate the story or you'll miss something relevant. To my surprise, my 3 teen kids loved the movie and 2 of the 3 went on to read the books after watching the movie. It's now on our list of movies we watch again every once in awhile and in my mind, that's about as good as it gets. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews
