Audience Member A fine example of award-winning tripe. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Worst western I've ever seen. The film tries to combine Chinese, Post-Civil War America and Old West without knowing anything about ANY of these cultures. The weapons were wrong, the history was wrong, the Chinese culture was wrong. Then there was the acting: stereotypes on top of stereotypes, from a Bible-misquoting drunk to a loud and demanding ex-officer. The final battle scene was a relief because I knew the movie was almost over. It was, however, beautifully shot. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member 140913: Wow, treachery abounds. This is a nasty movie about the effects of "yellow fever". Found it a bit convoluted even in this second viewing, but thoroughly enjoyable. Good western fare. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member the past. the present. the future? human nature - always the same old bullshit! survival, greed, and the extreme measures man employs to get what he wants. guns and violence and hustle - the melting pot of america. swayze and co deliver the chops in this fact paced gold rush era parable. some excellent dialogue with a few zingers that had me chuckling in my seat. pay extra attention to the soft/intense/soft organic western/asian fusion score by the charming and talented sean ferguson. recommended.
