In this offbeat comedy from Finland, Turo is stuck in a small village where the best thing in his life is being the lead vocalist for the amateur metal band Impaled Rektum. The only problem? He and his bandmates have practiced for 12 years without playing a single gig. The guys get a surprise visitor from Norway--the promoter for a huge heavy metal music festival--and decide it's now or never. They steal a van, a corpse, and even a new drummer in order to make their dreams a reality.

Jagged, scattered, unevenly paced and constructed, and occasionally uncertain in overall direction, "Heavy Trip" still delivers a damn fine time, peaking with moments of absurd metal glory, both for those who head bang and those who don't.

My 16yo son and I both absolutely loved Heavy Trip. My son practiced his deathcore vocals at every opportunity (we streamed it at home), and the subtitles are great for practice reading more quickly and effortlessly. Overall it’s a great buddy story, about a Finnish black metal band. The bandmates are all likable, and you’re pulling for them to succeed. The plot details are bananas -Terrorists are stopped by the “Delta Team” (elderly villagers). The band is rescued by cosplaying vikings (plus Legolas the elf). …Just watch the movie. It’s fantastic. :)

This movie is actually good. It gives you an insight into the real experience of metal bands. Also, we all metalheads know that when a metal movie is being made, they always make it with the influence of pop culture so it will appeal to normies too. But this is different, it actually has a really good soundtrack, like the band plays real good blackened death metal (i suppose?)

A film centered around metal music that doesn't feature the most basic bands (Sabbath, Metallica, Maiden). Soundtrack is very good. Can easily be watched over and over again. Reminds me of the places where I spent my very early childhood.
