05/11/2022 This is one of the best truly independent films of the 2000s. Ryan and Britt have excellent chemistry. Riehle soars as the gay dad! Ford austin is an epic lovable creep wrestling manager. It's a funny, touching movie about a modern family trying to keep their late-father's business going at all costs. Well-written and directed and the performances were terrific, down to the supporting cast (the recurring opposition tag team wrestling duo were hysterical). Families aren't always comprised of those who share your DNA, yet their bonds can be just as strong, if not stronger. "Heels" is about a family brought together by love, and necessity originally, who choose to stay together because of fierce loyalty. They will do whatever it takes to keep the family flourishing. All families could take a lesson from this amount of love and acceptance! I know families related by blood, who aren't as loyal and loving! Such a beautiful reminder that we can make our own family, it's just about finding a group of people who love you and support you and will always have your back no matter what.
