john e This black-and-white film is a direct and informative documentary that whizzes by much too quickly. After briefly introducing the audience to the modern Helen Keller (she was 74 in 1955 when the film was made), the movie spends most of its first half hour providing in-depth information on Helen's childhood and her challenges to overcome her disabilities. The second half of this film focuses on Helen's latter life, the responsibilities she continues to address and how she lives her day to day life. There are so many amazing accomplishments that this wonderful lady made, beyond her bringing recognition to the world on how the blind and deaf can lead fulfilling and important lives. I had no idea she learned to read and communicate in five different languages. I had no idea of how globally respected and admired she was. But neither of those were as impressive to me as when, as a viewer, I was shown how she learned to speak. Unbelievable. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
