Jacob B Still an entertaining watch with the same appealing animation style, good voice acting, creepier atmosphere and heartwarming moments with regards to Hellboy's mentor/adoptive father despite feeling like a step down from Sword of Storms. In my opinion, at least. Mostly because the heavy focus on Professor Broom/Bruttenholm leaves the titular character out of focus whilst one of the villains ends up being disposed of rather anticlimactically. The flashbacks being told in reverse chronological order also didn't really do anything for me since this isn't the type of movie you watch for its mysteries. Basically, I don't feel comfortable with the idea of calling this the "Memento" of superhero movies. But despite how sidelined Hellboy and Co. end up being, I'd still recommend this as a suitable Halloween watch for its darker story, the atmosphere and some fun action. While I think Sword of Storms was better, this film does fit the Halloween bill more due to the focus on vampires and the less episodic storytelling. Shame that post-credits scene setting up a third one was never followed up on. Come to think of it, Hellboy has terrible luck with sequel hooks, doesn't he? I wanted a Helldad movie, damn it! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/12/24 Full Review robert p Even animated movies voiced by Ron Pearlman are successes!!!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member An improvement over its predecessor across its main drawn aspects with familiar episodic structure that possibly demeans with disposable ridicule but possesses more of the creative signatures' more apparent flairs and offers slight heft to the overall films. (B) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review steve d The same great people involved and a better and scarier story. It's a blast. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Mas parece un capítulo de una serie que lo alargaron para que parezca una película... Pero almenos no me dormí mirándola "película" Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I think this movie is a great bellboy story, and it's perfectly understandable why it isn't a live action movie with a big budget because it would be a absolute horror movie. It has some aspects from "wake the devil" and it also has the full cast from the other movies but was written by mike mignolia. Overall great film worth watching Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews
