Critics Consensus

Supporting actors Vera Farmiga and James Caan give the movie a little heft, but Henry's Crime is an otherwise predictable heist/comedy with slow pacing.

Logan Hill New York Magazine/Vulture Fortunately, for a film that quotes so much Chekhov, Henry's Crime is likably unpretentious: a wry story about a quiet schmuck who finally sticks his neck out. Sep 23, 2020 Full Review Moira MacDonald Seattle Times An intermittently entertaining comedy/drama with a funny script and a fatal miscasting. Rated: 2.5/4 Apr 28, 2011 Full Review Bill Goodykoontz Arizona Republic Go for Caan and Farmiga, and stay to be surprised by Reeves. Rated: 3/5 Apr 28, 2011 Full Review Abbie Bernstein Assignment X Henry's Crime is quieter than either of its genres leads one to expect but, perhaps because of this, it provides a lot of fun throughout. Rated: B+ Feb 16, 2019 Full Review Mike Russell Oregonian The film feels a bit enervated, even when the script asks it to fly off the rails toward the end. Rated: C+ Apr 28, 2011 Full Review Kelly Vance East Bay Express The screenplay leeches all the fun out of it, and the principals - aside from Caan, who generates his own power - seem lost and abandoned. John S I personally thought it was an excellent movie. It did everything a movie supposed to do,it entertained.I especially liked James Caan and Kneau Reeves was perfect in his role as well. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/19/24 Full Review Robert M It is, simply, a movie everyone can enjoy. You absolutely do not have to, or want to, see it twice. It IS predictable but if you want phoney meaningless twists and turns , look somewhere else. Henry’s Crime was 2 hours that I don’t wish I had back. I’ll look on those 2 hours with fondness. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/14/24 Full Review carlos t Minha opinião: Uma comédia light. Vale apena assistir? Quer esdacer um pouco o cérebro? Então assista. Nota: 7 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Described and previewed as more serious than it is. Wasn't at all what is expected, the cast alone makes it watchable until things get interesting, which they barely do. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Yeah.. not the best. But hey, Niagra Falls was still pretty to see, even from the US side... LOL! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member I had never ever heard of this movie till today. I guess we must have been traveling when it hit the cinemas 10 years ago. Well, anyway, it is a very interesting and different twitch on those typical bank heist flicks, presenting an excellent James Caan, a marvelous Vera Farmiga and an unfortunately too stoic Keanu Reeves. It's neither a thriller nor a real comedy, but a sweet silly story to while away those 105 minutes. I had a good time. 6 1/2 points. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Read all reviews
