Phil Hoad Guardian [A] grimly mannered and ersatz film. Rated: 1/5 Dec 7, 2020 Full Review Carey-Ann Pawsey Orca Sound Though this is essentially about the end of someone's life, there is hope here. It is not all tears and heartbreak (though there is some of that as well). Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 16, 2020 Full Review Alex Saveliev Film Threat I'm a total cinematic masochist... but 90 or so minutes of emotional hammering and being reminded of our fragility and imminent demise is a bit much. Ananda J This film, while the larger theme is ending one's life, is a tender story and is a story of someone in pain going on out on their own terms. While there is physical pain for Anna Camp's character, the pain she and others are able to get tthrough while she is still alive is important. Very important relationships, funny, endearing. Joe Lo Trugilo does an amazing job with his phobia ridden character and is a scene stteeler in nearly every scene he is in. KUDOS to this indie film and the indie filmmakers behind it. This film should have seen a MUCH BROADER audience. Looks like it came out right as the pandemic hit. Watch it and if you agree with me, spread the word. Oh by the way, it's a tearjerker. keep the Kleenex tissues nearby. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/12/24 Full Review Audience Member Speechless very gripping move. Get out the tissues Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review les n I don't know which caused more nausea, the bad dialogue or the cancer medication she was supposedly on. I'm sure women will love this. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Here Awhile is a compelling, engaging and thought-provoking movie about a young woman, Anna, who is dying from cancer. She moves to Oregon in order to access its Death with Dignity Act. The acting by Anna Camp and the entire cast is superb. The story is beautifully written and manages to strike the ideal balance between serious and levity. It also does an excellent job capturing the reality that one can both desperately want to live and be able to accept the inevitability of their death. While the focus is on dying on one's own terms, the movie also touches upon several other issues including sexual identity, aspergers, mental health, and more. While the movie is about death, what it really demonstrates is key themes around love, acceptance, and compassion. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member It was a great look into the humanity of this situation. I recommend it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Really accessible film about what this woman decided to do when she got cancer. I learned a lot about End of Life Act/Death with Dignity. Great performances and direction, charming and human. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
