TheMovieSearch R Hermit the Monster Killer … oh my, what can I even say about this movie? I’ll say this—you’ll make the right decision by not watching this trash. I sat through it so you don’t have to, and honestly, you’re welcome. This movie features some of the worst directing I’ve ever witnessed in any film. It’s chaotic from beginning to end, bouncing around from place to place with no sense of purpose or flow. The sets and costumes are laughably bad—so cheap and uninspired that they feel like a high school project gone wrong. Even with so much of the film being shot outdoors, it never once feels like the chosen locations were thought out. It honestly feels like they just stepped outside, pointed a camera, and said, “Yep, this will do.” The so-called monsters or creatures are equally bogus. There’s cheesy, campy fun like we saw in the ’70s and ’80s monster flicks, and then there’s this—something that looks like it was slapped together with leftover fabric and Halloween mask rejects. Camp can work if you lean into it with style and energy, but here it just comes across as lazy and embarrassing. The screenplay itself is another disaster. The film isn’t in English—or in any language I could follow—and there weren’t even subtitles to help bridge the gap. Now, let me be clear: I enjoy foreign films, and some of the most powerful movies I’ve ever seen weren’t in English at all. A strong story transcends language—you can follow the emotional beats and the arcs without needing a word of translation. But Hermit the Monster Killer doesn’t deliver on that front at all. Instead of strong visual storytelling, it gives you an incoherent mess where you’re left confused and detached. By the end, I was exhausted, frustrated, and honestly embarrassed for everyone involved. This film doesn’t even land in the “so bad it’s good” category—it’s just plain bad. If I could scrape this one off the cinematic toilet bowl and flush it away forever, I would. Trust me: save yourself the time, because this is one you’ll regret pressing play on.
