Cheng Er, in both Hidden Blade and The Wasted Times, is not after suspense but rather mystery: the tension (and fun) of the film lies not in anticipating what comes next, but in trying to figure out what is happening and why.

This movie is a must see! Excellent story plot and the twist is so unexpected. Can’t get enough of the character, Mr Ye. Wang Yibo really brought his A game!

Beautiful score and visuals! Tony was instantly charming and smooth, while Yibo held you down with his intense, simmering gaze. Story is laid out like a puzzle, non linear, and forces you to pay attention as you look for clues about what side each character is truly spying for. This film gets better with each viewing!

Excellent ensemble cast, great editing and cinematography. The action scenes were intense and well executed. The movie is a good tribute to the unsung heroes of war who will forever be ‘hidden blades’. Worth watching especially for those who like spy noir films.

This is a fantastic art house film! Mr. Leung is in his element. The big fight scene is worth the price of admission. Both Mr. Wangs are convincing. Yibo brings the house down. I sincerely regret that I ever thought he couldn't show emotion. Mr. Cheng, the writer/director, is an artist.
