Chris Azzopardi New York Times With his exceptionally lived-in performance, Pigossi brings Lourenço’s heartbreaking emotions to life, making even the script’s contrivances feel natural. Oct 17, 2024 Full Review Siddhant Adlakha Variety A scattered but intimate drama. Pigossi delivers a stunning performance that practically heat-welds together the film’s disparate parts, making it feel whole despite the flaws in its construction. Mar 9, 2024 Full Review David Rooney The Hollywood Reporter A haunting lead performance from Marco Pigossi, steeped in melancholy and raw pain but also in moments of openness, optimism and even joy, helps make High Tide an affecting portrait of untethered gay men seeking meaningful connections. Mar 9, 2024 Full Review Gregg Shapiro Bay Area Reporter "High Tide" is a different kind of gay movie. The Provincetown setting, which Calvani captures beautifully and authentically rendered characters make this a movie not to be missed. Rated: A- Nov 11, 2024 Full Review DarkSkyLady LatinaMedia.Co High Tide is sweet, sad, and optimistic as it crafts the story of a heartbroken, undocumented gay man at a hopeless standstill. Beauty and quiet pain build to a crescendo in this worthwhile if disjointed SXSW film about moving forward. Nov 5, 2024 Full Review Todd Jorgenson Cinemalogue A quietly powerful saga of longing and belonging, this character-driven drama thoughtfully examines the queer immigrant experience with nuanced tenderness. Glauco C I watched "High Tide" and was moved by how the film explores human connection. It's a work of art that made me reflect on my own relationships and how they can be transformed. Even if I’m a heterosexual man!  Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/26/24 Full Review Mark S Gorgeously directed and stunningly photographed film, with beautiful performances by Marco Pigossi and Marisa Tomei. The film takes its time and gets under your skin in the most remarkable way. Highly recommend. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/26/24 Full Review Audience Member Beautifully made film with terrific acting. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/25/24 Full Review Nuno F Masterfully directed, with an incredible cast with depth and sensitivity High Tide took me on an inner journey of sensitivity, fear, and Love. I was captivated by the landscapes and the poignant acting of the main actor. Lourenco's eyes and smile invited me to see the beauty that there is in Love and the pains of the unanswered questions in every heartbreak. I reflected on the main actors and experienced a missing healing. Marisa Tomei's acting expresses the duality of hurting a loved one in the journey to learning self, which is brilliant. She said with a heavy heart 'I had to break his heart to love myself finally. And it was worth it.', will stay with me forever. What a beautiful piece of art. I highly recommend it. Nuno Fernandes Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/25/24 Full Review Lisa R Gorgeous from start to finish. Absolutely LOVED it! It’s so meditative and beautiful. So stunning to look at, and the performances so lived in, across the board. Marco Pigossi was able to do something that so many guys who are as beautiful (and hot) as he can’t do, which is to make me believe they are uncomfortable in their own skin, and James Bland is wonderful as well. What a pocket of beauty at such an ugly time in our country. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/24/24 Full Review Ramon C So happy I got to see this movie on a big screen. A poignant exploration of the fragility and beauty of human connection The film masterfully captures the bittersweet nature of love, where joy and sorrow often intertwine. Do not sleep on this film, the cinematography alone is breathtaking… every frame a photograph. Can’t wait to watch this over and over again.
