Audience Member Currently reading Phil Scraton's excellent book on the subject so it seemed the perfect time to re-visit Jimmy McGovern's TV Movie on the subject. The film has lost none of it's raw power mainly because it was so excellently research and stuck so diligently to the facts. One of the worst cover-ups and institutional crimes committed in British history, this really is essential viewing. Genuinely heartbreaking stuff. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Impressively realistic, sometimes harrowingly straightforward, this no-frills dramatisation of one of sport's blackest days ticks all the boxes in terms of grit and effectiveness. There are excellent performances all round, notably from Ricky Tomlinson and Christopher Eccleston, and a story of startling simplicity to hammer home the film's message. The injustice of the day will never be forgotten. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Startlingly good and upsetting dramatisation of the Hillsborough disaster and the failed quest for justice by the families of the dead in its aftermath. Impressively accurate given the recent revelations about the police corruption to cover up their mistakes on the day. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Moving, upsetting and very well acted recreation of the events that took place on 15th April 1989. A moment that should be forever in the mind of every Liverpool nay every football fan in england. The families of those who died having to defend their lost loved ones form the lies of the police and the aweful and shameless lies told by The Sun newspaper. The film really makes you understand just how wronged they were and why they need the Justice they have never got. Justice for 96, watch this and understand why. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member An emotionally tragic tail of the events at Hillsborough. The whole movie is deeply saddening and it really makes you contemplate who is to blame for this, though it seems pretty clear. My heart goes out to the families. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Well made factual film essentially a documentary, and naturally sad.
