Johnny (Cary Grant) seems like a solid match for Julia (Doris Nolan), the socialite daughter of Edward Seton (Henry Kolker). Assured that Johnny is a worthy suitor, Edward approves of the pairing. But, as Johnny's wanderlust surfaces -- he is more interested in traveling than in business -- Edward starts to have doubts. Johnny also begins to wonder if he might not be a better match for Linda (Katharine Hepburn), Julia's outspoken younger sister, with whom he has much more in common.

Lanfranco C Happyness and Love beyond money Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/21/24 Full Review nick s Okay, I know this has Hollywood royalty, the acting is impeccable and the production quality is spot on. But man, what a bore. Nothing happens. There is one plot twist and you can guess it at the halfway mark. This Cash and Cary movie is for people who just enjoy watching those actors, and don't care if it's much ado about nothing. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/11/24 Full Review elana k A winning pair with excellent dialogue and quicksilver wit, chemistry and dazzling costumes. What's not to like? "Someone stop me. Oh someone please, just try and stop me!" Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/24 Full Review Genti M I was perhaps expecting it to be slightly more "holiday-themed" than it was but nonetheless this was a very fun time. The quick-witted dialogue of the time certainly always helps with making the runtime feel like it's breezing by. I love all the acting as everyone seemed like they were having a marvelous time during the filming. The legendary Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn are naturally fantastic and frankly anytime I get a chance to witness greatness on screen I'll take it. Probably won't hurry to rewatch this one but as a one-time watch around the holiday season certainly it was not bad at all. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/13/22 Full Review james w Charming, if predictable. Cary & Kathrine have their oft displayed chemistry and Edward Everett Horton and his wife are playful. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review paul d Holiday is a wonderful film, a "serious" comedy of manners, morals and the meaning of life and work. It has plenty of lighthearted moments, but the plot always returns to its serious themes, even if they are approached though humorous banter. Grant and Hepburn are fabulous, I wanted them to be in every frame. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
