Audience Member Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story is what I would normally consider a bad movie, yet looking back at it I believe it to have actually been a very fun movie to watch. (and make fun of a bit) So I'm rating this movie based on how much fun I had whilst watching the film and how much fun I think anyone else would have if they go into it with that sort of mindset. (note I am not a fan of the chiefs) I have several funny key moments of this movie I would like to list, with some light spoilers, so be warned: Throughout the movie, the family of the main girl (I cannot for the life of me remember the names of any of the characters) are trying to get her laid using tropes that the characters self-admit to learning from Hallmark Christmas movies. The main girl's family have this magical hat that makes the Chiefs win if they wear it which one of the grandfathers was given by the actual real Santa Claus. (this implies that the team has no real talent (true fact) and are only winning due to christmas magic, the NFL may want to look into this) The main dude (who works for the Chiefs as like a fan event thing guy I don't remember the actual title) builds a very wholesome friendship with the aforementioned grandfather that I personally thought was very nice. (the movie would've turned into more of a comedy if they leaned into that more and I kinda wish they had more time in it just to build on that) I also have to respect the clear effort and passion that went into this movie, such as them bringing up random trivia about the Chiefs, members and former members of the team making cameos (again I'm not a fan of them but I have to respect it), as well as the actual real mayor of Kansas City making a cameo. All in all I think this movie is a semi self-aware overall fun time to watch with friends or family and enjoy. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/25 Full Review Birithivy Y Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story - 4/10. Alright, so, we’re now at the part of Hallmark holiday films where we enter the sports realm. We have a christmas film, which just so happens to be a big commercial for the Kansas City Chiefs. And no offence to the present day juggernauts and possible new dynasty, the Chiefs deserve way better brand placement. If the Oakland A’s have Moneyball, the Anaheim Ducks have the Mighty Ducks films, and the Boston Red Sox have Pitch Perfect, then the Chiefs wholly deserve something way better. This is a cheesy, lukewarm, and just straight up hammy christmas film. The out of place and forced cameos are kinda funny to watch here, as you can tell that they probably had only a short period of time to be a part of the production. Though the overall movie is not great, as a sports fan, this was somewhat enjoyable because usually holiday films don’t revolve around christmas. Mediocre at best, but passed the time! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/28/24 Full Review Kim B Was cute at first but got stupid when lead actress became so emotional and dramatic over the “incident”! Both leads are better than this. Enjoyed their holiday movies from the past. But this vehicle was vacuous over said “item”. The idea that a football team’s victory depends on an intangible item and superstition not skill was not even fantastical or mysterious. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/25/24 Full Review Steve D Another cup of spiked eggnog to go with your warm holiday gathering. Yes. Corny and cringy in the most delicious of ways - be prepared to smile. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/23/24 Full Review THOMAS A Why do they insist on making so many of the female leads unstable? The family in this one should have been spending the end of the movie getting her into an insane asylum. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/22/24 Full Review Jay R This was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. The dialogue and acting was so bad in the first few scenes I thought it was a parody.
