Jonathan Romney Guardian Arquette is screechily obnoxious and the whole thing's an unfunny, unholy mess indeed. Mar 2, 2024 Full Review Stephen Amidon Financial Times This sappy hymn to family values should offend nobody -- except people who like good cinema. Mar 1, 2024 Full Review Geoff Brown Times (UK) Leonard Nimoy's film is not as distasteful as the plotline suggests, but it still leaves the stomach churning. Mar 1, 2024 Full Review Jeff Simon Buffalo News With luck, Disney studios reached absolute bottom with this movie. Rated: 0/5 Feb 29, 2024 Full Review Steve Persall Tampa Bay Times Holy Matrimony would be a better film had Nimoy and his writers not allowed a Hollywood-style crisis to intrude on Havana and Zeke's relationship. Steve D One of the most uncomfortable and unfunny films ever made. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member A disgusting premise, a terrible script and awful, awful direction make this a contender for worst film of all time. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/06/21 Full Review Audience Member Despite an uneven plot, Holy Matrimony delivers enough laughs along with the charming performances between Patricia Arquette and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member ★ (out of four) Painfully bad film that makes a miserable attempt at being a comedy. It has no funny moments and the plot is unbelievably patched together. Who thought this thing up? To make things worse, it is directed by Spock himself...Leonard Nimoy! Havana (Patricia Arquette) and her boyfriend Peter (Tate Donovan) are short on cash so they decide to rob a carnival. They steal the loot and hightail it to canada where they hide out with Peter's family in a Hutterite community, much like the Amish. Settling in Peter and Havana get married. Peter stashes the money in a secret place, but then persihes in a car accident. Hutterite law says that when a spouse dies then the bride must then marry the husband's brother. Problem is Zeke (Joseph Gordon-Levit) is only twelve years old. Havana agrees because Zeke is the only person who knows where Peter hid the dough. Can you believe that plot. Several producers actually read this script and thought it was a good idea for a movie. This explains a lot about the quality of many of the films in Hollywood. Joseph Gordon-Levitt did a great job and proved he would be a star Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Very bad movie, but bad movies from the 90's still find ways to be watchable.
