Critics Consensus

Despite a promising premise and a solid central performance from Jesse Eisenberg, Holy Rollers lacks the depth necessary to overcome its cliched script.

Audience Member Very surprised by all the horrible reviews this film has received. It's based on a true story it doesn't have to have a happy ending or comedic relief to be considered a great film and it is. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review kevin w Feeling left in the slow lane of life, New York Orthodox Jews try drug running for awhile, trading on their outsider status. Families disapprove, but they do improve the drug-running game, because they're good with money ... ! Oy. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Enjoyable, but predictable. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member The movie is based on a true story in the late 1990s when Hasidic Jews were recruited to smuggle ecstasy from Europe to the US. I felt the movie could have been better. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Soft spot for true stories of this nature. Jesse Eisenberg does awkward again. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Jewish guy imports some ecstasy pills...thats it really. Grab it at a charity shop near you soon.
