After a hive-minded alien race called the Boov conquer the Earth, they relocate the planet's human population -- all except for a little girl named Tip (Rihanna), who's managed to hide from the aliens. When Tip meets a fugitive Boov called Oh (Jim Parsons), there's mutual distrust. However, Oh is not like his comrades; he craves friendship and fun. As their distrust fades, the pair set out together to find Tip's mother, but, unbeknown to them, the Gorg -- enemies of the Boov -- are en route.

Critics Consensus

Colorful, silly, and utterly benign, Home is a passable diversion, but there's no shortage of superior animated alternatives.

Emily St. James Vox When Tip and Oh realize how wrong they've been about so many things, they begin moving toward real maturity and growth. That's something viewers of all ages can appreciate. Rated: 3.5/5 Dec 17, 2015 Full Review Christy Lemire ChristyLemire.com Heartwarming and harmless? Sure, why not. But it's also numbing in its simplicity and often rather annoying. Rated: 1.5/4 Mar 29, 2015 Full Review Dana Rose Falcone Entertainment Weekly The combination of Home's layered message, fun score, and clever comedy make it a colorful choice for moviegoers of any age. Mr F This movie made me come into the out Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/14/25 Full Review K G Not the greatest heartwarming movie, but I like it. I used to feel obsessed with a certain movie, mainly it would be a DreamWorks one (like I was obsessed with "Mr Peabody & Sherman"). It was the right thing to go & see it on a Sunday morning & whenever I watch it on DVD, it would feel like my birthday. It's lovely about the story about 2 odd ones out of different species (a human & an alien (boov)). Oh was different, he carried more than others, he was a bit of a nuisance turning him into a fugitive. Whilst Tip was very successful with geometry but was apparently a nerd. When they met each other, things were out of hand - Oh expressed what Boovs were like & Tip taught about how to be a friend in this amusing adventure. The cast was lovely: it must be just me who found it fun to cast Jim Parsons as the Boov protagonist & it was one time Rihanna made a good role as portraying a teenager (not when she was Smurfette). I think the story is comparable to both "Ron's Gone Wrong" & "Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" because of teaching how to be a friend (imperfect) & that Captain Smek had taken babies that did not belong to him & had to escape from their parent. Could have been a Blue Sky movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/06/25 Full Review Wendy D One of the few kids movies that I don't mind my kids watching over and over. Cute and funny with a great soundtrack. Shush! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/04/25 Full Review Giovani L. This movie is gas I love the boo’s there soo cute I want to eat them.my mommy said I couldn’t watch it tell I turn 20,now I’m 20 and is the best movie I’ve ever watch I recommend. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/19/25 Full Review Poppy T Pure ragebait - my friend made me watch it Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/16/25 Full Review Dave C Warm, fuzzy, friendly, good-humoured family fun. It's a nice, wholesome watch Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/15/25 Full Review Read all reviews
