Eric D. Snider EricDSnider.com Without the 'it's funny because it's true' Mormon humor, it's basically just another mismatched-partners/'Tommy Boy'-ripoff/one-thing-after-another comedy. Rated: C- Jan 10, 2004 Full Review Jeff Vice Deseret News (Salt Lake City) It's as if in trying to tell an actual story the filmmakers have taken a large step backward. Rated: 1.5/4 Jan 9, 2004 Full Review Audrey Rock-Richardson Tooele Transcript-Bulletin (Utah) Starts out genuinely funny, morphs into fourth-grade style silliness, and awkwardly transitions into an almost somber and serious ending. Audience Member Well meaning family comedy, a Mormon movie. Generally I like Mormon movies, this one was below par though. Sillier than most but it's message is a good one. The acting is adequate. Some funny situations. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Halestorm entertainment has produced some genuine gems, but this one shows what can happen if you try too hard. LDS comedy can be a great thing, but when you forego a good story for non-stop slapstick "comedy" it can be a bad thing. This movie had a lot of potential, but it failed to live up to it.
