Homecoming: The Tokyo Series explores Japan's deep bond with baseball, culminating in the 2025 MLB Opening Day games in Tokyo as hometown heroes Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Roki Sasaki, Shota Imanaga, and Seiya Suzuki return to where their baseball dreams began. Through the lives of those shaped by the game, the film reveals how baseball bridges generations, connects nations, and reflects the balance between tradition and modern life. More than a chronicle of a sporting event, it is a portrait of a nation's enduring love for baseball and the pride of watching its stars come home.

David 1d Excellent file about the Dodgers Cubs 2025 season opener in Tokyo, skillfully melding Japanese culture with baseball and how Japanese professional players develop into successful cultural influences on American baseball. See more Susan R 1d I was expecting more behind the scene of the Dodgers and was very disappointed. See more Chris 1d Most of the movie is not about the Tokyo Series or MLB. Focuses on side stories of random people in Japan who love baseball. They culture comparison to America is neat, but the same theme is rehashed over and over for an hour and a half. See more Rick W 1d Unique look at the international appeal of baseball through Japanese eyes. See more Manny-san 2d Nothing actually about the players but more how baseball has a huge affect on the country of Japan. See more SUSAN 2d The advertising seemed to indicate that Homecoming was about Major League players in Tokyo. It was actually a CNN documentary about how baseball is integrated into Japanese culture and about "Little Wolf," a Japanese version of Little League. There was a lot of extraneous content that made it vary slow with no excitement whatsoever. See more Read all reviews
