Jay (Robert Morse) is left at the altar by his bride, Cynthia (Anne Helm), so he decides to take his best man, Ross (Robert Goulet), on his prepaid honeymoon. When a possible reconciliation between Jay and Cynthia threatens to cut short Ross' vacation fling with hotel social director Lynn (Nancy Kwan), Ross makes a duplicitous effort to break up the happy reunion. But it gets complicated when Ross' boss, Sampson (Keenan Wynn), arrives with his dim-witted mistress, Sherry (Jill St. John).
