Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times Many forced, unconvincing situations...unfold as Emerson struggles to paint a meaningful social portrait, one that often feels surprisingly retro and clichd from a guy who seems pretty hip on YouTube. May 30, 2018 Full Review Joe Lipsett Queer.Horror.Movies. It is clear after watching Hooked that Emerson needed a firm, guiding hand... While he may have begun the project with noble intentions, the finished product is a disjointed mess of clichés that do not have much new or insightful to say... Feb 3, 2019 Full Review Alistair Ryder Gay Essential It may be far from perfect, but I was hooked from start to finish. Oct 8, 2018 Full Review Spencer Coile Film Inquiry What began as a character study soon evolves into a cautionary tale that feels unfounded considering everything that we had just watched up until that point. Jul 4, 2018 Full Review Rich Cline Shadows on the Wall The script is far too obvious for its own good, shouting its opinions instead of drawing us in meaningfully. Alejandro E Hooked was a difficult film to rate. It definitely suffers from a lot of problems. It's dialogue and tone is boring at times and cliches are around every corner. Nonetheless, it presents an actual very real problem on our society and does it with a lead character that shines even with the challenges mentioned before. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/23/24 Full Review Audience Member A good movie on a serious, but little understood, subject. Connor Donnally is superb as the lead character. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member The worst of both worlds: the script is just as horrible as porn, but without any genitals on screen to justify the ruse. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Conor Donnally stands out as Jack a street kid who has a drug addiction and has to escort to get by! I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/29/19 Full Review Audience Member For what little it cost to make this movie I was pleasantly surprised St the quality of the finished product. The message deserves a wide viewership so I recommend it be viewed by all at-risk youth and their supporters. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Too bad for words. Worse gay film ever.Stereotyped and horribly acted but for the lead dude. 1/2 stars because it's always fun to see how bad, bad writing can be.
