Critics Consensus

Horns is a bit of a tonal jumble, but it offers enough thoughtful horror-comedy -- and strong work from Daniel Radcliffe -- to hook genre enthusiasts.

Kevin Maher Times (UK) You never want to rip into actors. They're a sensitive bunch. They do a job that brutalises the soul at the best of times... And yet I really struggle with Daniel Radcliffe. Rated: 2/5 Dec 4, 2014 Full Review Chris Nashawaty Entertainment Weekly It seems to have been made by people who couldn't decide if their film was a horror flick, a whodunit, or a Hellboy knockoff. Rated: C Nov 5, 2014 Full Review Jonathan Romney Observer (UK) Only in spurts does the film achieve an outre flavour of pop Gogol. Rated: 2/5 Nov 2, 2014 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Horror and supernatural aficionados should seek a bloody fairytale elsewhere. Rated: 2/4 Jul 18, 2022 Full Review Emma Wolfe SpookyAstronauts It was just two hours of non-stop action really. Rated: 8/10 Jun 1, 2021 Full Review Dan Brightmore NME (New Musical Express) Aja keeps the genre plates spinning gamely and it's great to see Radcliffe revelling in the chaos, excise Potter once for all and literally grow a pair. Minako N For the most part it's great however I feel the ending could've been a fair bit better Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/27/24 Full Review Patrick F A wild fantasy movie, something different for sure. Flip a coin you may like it you may not. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/26/24 Full Review Audience Member This was not a good movie. I know that I basically only watched it because of Daniel Radcliffe, but I was hoping there'd be something in there aside from him that made this worth it. To me, there was not. At least Guns Akimbo (another bad movie starring Radcliffe) was kinda fun in its absurd silliness. And there were moments that I could laugh at certain parts that I do not think were meant to be laughed at, but it wasn't enough to save it in my eyes. This felt like a student film with a bit more budget. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/01/24 Full Review Cork B Radcliffe will do just about anything to get out from the shadow of Harry Potter. Sometimes that is bad, and sometimes good. I liked this film quite a bit. Mostly on an emotional level, this is a tale of true love, betrayal and revenge. This is totally catering to the emo younger crowd. Throw in the weird fantasy elements, and you certainly have an unconventional love story. Yeah there were a few too many twists and turns in the murder mystery, and most of them you could see coming, but easy to overlook all that. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/02/24 Full Review Audience Member I didn’t like it I found the story interesting and the premise of the horns and powers super cool but the assault sence with Lee really sucked it just made me hate the entire movie and especially Lee that evil bad person just way to realistic and way to horrifying brought back a little ptsd plus the pain see was in like I just hated and was depressed during this entire thing so I would not recommend this for someone who is a survivor of SA but for anyone else into mystery and horror movies go for it Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/29/24 Full Review Regina P Different. Different in a good way. Turned into a murder mystery (which I'm always game for) mixed with fantasy elements. A little bit too out there to have repeat value, but I was not disappointed.
