      Critics Consensus

Horns is a bit of a tonal jumble, but it offers enough thoughtful horror-comedy -- and strong work from Daniel Radcliffe -- to hook genre enthusiasts.

Jamison B Good movie. Watched it 9 years ago, and read the book. Saw all the bad reviews and started watching it again to make sure. Nope, most of the reviews are wrong, it is a good movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/05/24 Full Review Hrafnar T This was an underdog movie. It had aspects of horror, fantasy and drama. The psychological suspense really brings this film into a different category. Very good movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/14/23 Full Review Alec B I haven't read the book, but this concept was begging for a funnier and more chaotic film. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/13/23 Full Review Peter J Not really sure how this film isn't fresh. Its ironic that as soon as the Harry Potter franchise ended we really get to see Radcliffe's acting ability shine. He's really great in this role and it is incredibly dark, funny, and unique in many ways. I highly recommend it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/26/23 Full Review Oliver A I don't understand the low critic and audience ratings for this film. It's genuinely a brilliant story cleverly adapted from the novel and succeeds in taking the viewer through a disturbing emotional journey with a fantastic finale! An absolutely original and exciting film with a great performance from Daniel Radcliffe, believe it or not. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/13/23 Full Review Nawt W Despite the movie's interesting premise, the actual plot becomes an uninspiring tonal mishmash, with the whole structure leaning heavily on an awful misunderstanding that the movie fails to convey as anything but trite. You could say that the love story is endearing and tragic, but the whole "love for the rest of my life, but not really because I know what's best for you" makes it seem forced to me. What doesn't help is the acting. It's either middling in quality across the board or, as in the case of Daniel Radcliffe, haphazard. He can certainly show heartbreak and mournfulness, but the character is clearly meant to be a bit of a ruffian, and he just doesn't cut it. I do not believe any of his posturings in the later parts of the movie. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Kevin Maher Times (UK) You never want to rip into actors. They're a sensitive bunch. They do a job that brutalises the soul at the best of times... And yet I really struggle with Daniel Radcliffe. Rated: 2/5 Dec 4, 2014 Full Review Chris Nashawaty Entertainment Weekly It seems to have been made by people who couldn't decide if their film was a horror flick, a whodunit, or a Hellboy knockoff. Rated: C Nov 5, 2014 Full Review Jonathan Romney Observer (UK) Only in spurts does the film achieve an outre flavour of pop Gogol. Rated: 2/5 Nov 2, 2014 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Horror and supernatural aficionados should seek a bloody fairytale elsewhere. Rated: 2/4 Jul 18, 2022 Full Review Emma Wolfe SpookyAstronauts It was just two hours of non-stop action really. Rated: 8/10 Jun 1, 2021 Full Review Dan Brightmore NME (New Musical Express) Aja keeps the genre plates spinning gamely and it's great to see Radcliffe revelling in the chaos, excise Potter once for all and literally grow a pair.
