Best friends Josh (Derek Richardson) and Paxton (Jay Hernandez) decide to spend the summer after college graduation on an all-out backpacking trip across Europe. While stopping in Amsterdam to indulge their tastes for drugs and sex, they meet Oli (Eythor Gudjonsson), a like-minded traveler from Iceland. When the three bachelors set off to investigate enticing rumors of a Slovakian hostel in a city populated by lusty women, they find themselves drawn unwittingly into a deadly game.

It’s definitely exploitative. From the generous heaping of bare tits, to the sinkfuls of mangled limbs, it’s not purporting to be high art. However... it does take extra care into providing a framework for these exploitative elements to exist believably.

The real torture is watching this crap for over a hour. This movie’s plot was weak. The entire premise is summed up in the sentence "rich people pay to torture and kill tourists". And that’s it. No deeper meaning, no symbolism or subtext at all. Just an hour and a half of gratuitous gore and nudity interspersed with screaming and cheesy, campy writing. The characters are all flat/underdeveloped. It wasn’t even scary, because none of it was something that could be brought home. This entire film felt like an immature dork’s wet dream. I wouldn’t recommend this to true horror fans. There were so many missed opportunities to turn this into something interesting, leaving me more frustrated than hooked. The actors did a decent job. As did the props and lighting department. Those are the best things I could say for this terrible film. It’s appalling Roth even got a movie deal. What a hack.

So here's the thing... I did start to watch it, but then, I eventually had to drop it for obvious reasons. I do have boundaries, and this one crossed one, so I decided to quit. Will I gather up the courage and give it another whirl in the future? I really don't know. My conscience says no. Honestly, it's not worth it. As long as you know the movie and it's concept, you can brag about it. Unbelievable they made more after this. Pretty famous though...
