Leslie Felperin Guardian This Scottish horror feature at least has wit and few fun ideas. Rated: 3/5 Aug 21, 2024 Full Review Megan Williams Battle Royale With Cheese ‘Hostile Dimensions’ is yet another enjoyable delight from director Graham Hughes. The small cast are fantastic and comfortably carry the film on their shoulders. Sep 24, 2024 Full Review Holly Hazelwood Spectrum Culture A no-budget multiverse tale, Hostile Dimensions lacks conviction and polish. Aug 27, 2024 Full Review Tim Brennan About Boulder Smart lighting and camera angles transform a suburban play area to something forbidding. Six dozen free-standing doors on a shoreline creates real anticipation. Aug 26, 2024 Full Review Morris Yang In Review Online Hostile Dimensions veers closer to pop culture, flaunting its urban legend influences in a storyline of common horror and cosmic action. It’s not half-bad, even if parts of it are undercooked. Aug 26, 2024 Full Review Mark Dujsik Mark Reviews Movies Hostile Dimensions ... ultimately does feel small—not because of the technical side of things, but on account of how little the story does with this premise... Keion C This film has a very good premise, but it miss it landing. The bones are good. I love other dimensions type stories, but this film lacks substance. My criticism have nothing to do with the low-budget aspect of the film. I don't need flashing CGI, or special effects; I use my imagination on novels all the time, so I can be drawn to a good story. However, there is basically no story here. You can watch the preview is that basically the whole movie. See this door, see it goes to different dimensions, see me run through it, see we find so random dude who happen to be expert at interdimensional doorway travel, see I am an expert at it now... My first issue is the acting is terrible. I seen better acting in high school plays. The actors to not delivery on emotion. So their reactions seem like people trying to act a part, rather than people just living their lives (especially, since this is a lost tape style movie, so they should come off as regular people). Next is the film is just weird. There are so many potholes that it just confusing. It hard to find people's motivation for their actions, so everything seems dumb and unbelievable. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/18/24 Full Review Audience Member Judging this movie for the low quality of the effects and costumes would be unwise, this movie is promoted as a budget movie after all. But what I cannot truly let this movie get a pass on, is the acting, the acting in this movie is truly disappointing, it felt like the actors and actresses truly just wanted to be done with it and put little effort and heart into it and on its final acts it gets worse, not only the acting but the overall effort put in the movie. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/03/24 Full Review Logan D With one of the pair mourning her mother's death, two documentary filmmakers decide to investigate the disappearance of a woman who passed thru a strange door. Almost a hidden gem! I still recommend the film for those who don't mind a low budget. There is one well done set piece I really enjoyed and liked the two leads. Biggest issue was the missing woman, spoiler, is found and seems to have no reaction from her experience. Oh, if you enjoy Scottish accents, all the main actors are just that, Scottish. Recommended. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/26/24 Full Review Don K I wanted to like it for being something different, but it quickly became different for the sake of being different. The amount of thought I put into that last sentence is on par for this attempt. Getting rid of some misplaced weirdness might make this a fun suspense of reality, starting with Chekhov's dog. Why didn't they help the other Ash that was somehow in the wrong universe? Why did Emily go after Ash and Sam go after Not Brian, when the opposite would have made sense. And how did Not Brian take out four people with a stun gun? Did real Brian spend the entire movie falling only to stop and tell Innis about being able to use chalk to create a door, but Sam somehow figured that out on her own? The budget isn't an issue at all and some great choices, like not making the found footage too shaky, were made. The casting was nice too and everyone felt authentic to their character, with the exception of Chekhov's dog. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/18/24 Full Review prawnda s if my close friends or relatives made this film, i'd happily compliment some aspects of it. as something sold via pay per view, i think it's been sorely misrepresented as a commercial product. it's not that bad if you know it's basically a student film, and frankly the last 10 seconds are hilarious, but please don't go renting this for full price on amazon. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/01/24 Full Review Jon H It starts promisingly. For the first five minutes I was thinking, wow I wonder what whoever made this film could do with an actual budget. However, it’s almost as if they had this premise of a door that was creepy, but then just made up whatever to make it into a feature. It’s a great effect the way the door is dark on the other side in that opening scene, then this terrible looking head pops out and it’s rapidly downhill from there. And what was that talking dog? Good, interesting premise, but awful film. And when I say awful, I mean really awful. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/01/24 Full Review Read all reviews
