Anton Bitel Sight & Sound 10/20/2020
exposes a deep seam of dysfunctional fathering and familial alienation as the Hendersons's Yuletide dinner is violently disrupted by body-snatched neighbours, and home truths are excavated. Go to Full Review

Surely destined to get a cult following, alongside such dark twisted seasonal tales like Krampus and Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale. Go to Full Review
Jennie Kermode Eye for Film 10/26/2020

This is among the smarter and more satisfying films of that ilk available this Halloween season. The disappointment comes simply from the sense that it ought to have been something more. Go to Full Review

Two fantastically committed performances from Samatha Loxley and Neal Ward help to make Hosts an entertaining and occasionally creepy watch. Go to Full Review

Logan D 1d A family is tormented by demonic creatures possessing the bodies of family members. An awful unfocussed film with a half-hearted mythology. One reveal has no impact on the film at all. I only finished it to see how the premise resolved. NOT recommended See more Mrs M Jan 4 Did the critics and the audience watch the same film? This cinematic offering was profoundly disappointing. The shock value of the sudden and graphic murder scenes had an almost campy quality, reminiscent of an old B-rated horror flick one might stumble upon on late-night cable. The possession scene involving the neighbor couple at the outset was tedious and uninspired, evoking comparisons to "Evil Dead" but lacking its engaging allure. Moreover, the film provided little contextualization, leaving viewers struggling to understand the motivations behind its events. Ultimately, it comes across as a tedious exercise in gore that received critical acclaim, despite being largely panned by viewers. I would advise against wasting your time on this film. See more Ryan W 12/06/2024 Once again I have falsely trusted a rotten tomato review and once again and for the last time I have been robbed of precious time. This film was so terribly written and poorly acted I came back to Google asking myself again why something this terrible would have even a single good review? I'm now going by a new rule that if rotten tomatoes rates it highly... find literally anything else to watch See more Anna H 12/06/2024 Truly abysmal film. Hammy, embarrassingly bad over acting, and a weak plot, with so many flaws... We spent most of the film wondering if it was a joke, and waiting for the punch line. A genuine waste of 90 minutes. I'm incredulous at the good reviews! Absolute junk. See more @Krixable 11/24/2024 Can't confirm all those good critic-reviews at all. Descent production value, but countless inconsistencies, pointless plotpoints, overacting cast for the most part and lifeless dialogues to say the least. A pain to watch at times. See more inta k 05/22/2024 quite boring and with some weird logic underneath it. See more Read all reviews
