Kambole Campbell One Room With A View Hounds of Love disappoints as well as disgusts by leaning too far into 'torture porn', all the while leaving far too little to the imagination. Rated: 3/5 Aug 25, 2018 Full Review Tara Brady Irish Times Genre fans should steel themselves for ickiness and heated post-screening debate. Rated: 3/5 Aug 15, 2017 Full Review Simran Hans Observer (UK) A terse, queasily effective thriller ... Rated: 3/5 Jul 30, 2017 Full Review Patrick Cavanaugh The Wolfman Cometh Intense performances and a few truly hypnotic music cues help push the film into a unique portrayal of the highs and lows of humanity. Rated: 4/5 May 12, 2023 Full Review Olly Richards NME (New Musical Express) The film is driven by three savage central performances. Booth particularly is shattering, making Evelyn a broken woman who asked the worst possible man to fix her. Aaron C For me this film is a Horror, very disturbing.. I watched the Arrow Film Blu Ray, I turned it off on first viewing, even though you don't see what happens in some seems you know what is happening which made it more disturbing for me On second viewing I knew what to expect and liked the film very much, based/inspired by a true story of a Serial killer couple in the 80s this film is well shot, well acted... Very gritty. Probably my favourite Australian film. What makes the feel disturbing/scary is that it could happen to anyone on anyday. Stephen Curry did a very convincing performance. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/21/24 Full Review Jan S I cannot recommend this film. Although well shot and well acted, watching it did nothing more than deeply upset me. I think? it suggests that the complicit female is a victim, but her choices and conduct are ultimately worth imprisonment, not empathy. Spoiler alert: I stayed with it until the unsatisfying end in hopes that the actual victim would remedy my horror with revenge against her captors. Alas, no such luck. This is torture porn and I cannot understand why anyone would make this film. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/05/24 Full Review Huy Hoang N A well-crafted movie with an excellent performance from Emma Booth Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/03/23 Full Review Bessie B Not amazing, but it had the ending we all wanted (and the one we all saw coming). The ending scene was an emotional moment. My biggest gripe is that the movie wants you to feel bad for the female kidnapper, even though she is entirely complicit in the crimes and should never take care of children. Would have liked to see her go to prison or something. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/18/23 Full Review Gareth v Hounds of Love is a disturbing psychological thriller/horror that does a good job of maintaining the tension. Stephen Curry was a surprise casting choice but he does a good job. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Simple but efficient ... i chose watching it like a teenager movie that does not need concentration... but what a surprise... the construction is perfectly done, te movie is really great by being so simple.... well dne Australia Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Read all reviews
