Brian L Extremely low budget horror, a few jump scares but overall I'll forget I watched it. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/21/23 Full Review Weorth The movie is horrible. There's a scene where one of the characters is banging on the basement door and screaming to be let out, and somehow two of the other characters who are 6ft away from the door walking into the room are like "hey, where's so and so?" and don't hear them screaming... Like what? This movie is infuriating. The little girl is bland and annoying, and like... while I get that they want a whole creepy girl and ghost host, they don't really elaborate on how it happens. The little girl is just automatically vacant without any sort of life in her to begin with, so how is their mother asking "what's wrong with my child?" when she done been like that since the get go? The ghosts aren't terrifying at all. The giggling children are annoying, and both the mother, father, and their friends are super flipping oblivious to a ridiculous extent. The story should be about an insecure husband with extreme jealous tendencies being a douchebag, but even that wouldn't save things from the bad acting/script. The whole cast of characters are repugnant and very unlikeable. I wish these ghosts would nut up and wipe them all out. I wish I could give it zero stars. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/09/23 Full Review farah r What a stupid, poorly-acted waste of time. This is neither a good horror nor a good movie. Everything is so dumb and unexplained at the end. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Yes, I'll say it and I'm a tough crowd, for "Lifetime", House of Darkness certainly exceeded expectations. Directing, storyline, music, acting, level of suspspense, and it's not predictable? Oh yes, you have my vote. It also is a pretty good rendition of "The Shining" in my opinion. And, in regards to "The Shining", the remake with Peter Weber and Rebecca De Mornay - wow, one best remakes. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member House of Darkness had a lot of potential, but suffered from horrendous editing. It really felt like a highlight reel of suspenseful and creepy moments. However, no character dwells on events, so the tension doesn't build or go anywhere. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Just a rip-off of "The Shining". Instead of an isolated hotel, it's a large isolated house. Instead of a weird son, it's a weird daughter. The husband descends into madness and the wife sees weird things in the house. Don't waste your time with this failure at horror.
