Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com While technically proficient, overall House on Willow Street is much ado about nothing, making it another piece of low budget genre fiction hard to get excited about and even more difficult to recommend. Rated: 2/4 Mar 31, 2017 Full Review Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter What the repetitive film lacks in narrative drive and compelling dialogue it makes up for in technical prowess, with director/editor Orr orchestrating the outrageously violent mayhem with admirable proficiency. Rated: 2.5/5 Aug 16, 2019 Full Review Andrew Parker The Gate Overall, it's a solid thriller with some well explored concepts that will keep viewers guessing even when they think they have everything figured out. B P A good setup, a majority of solid characters (and cast) and some balls-out demon action in the final stretch manages to ensure From a House on Willow Street provides enough entertainment to see you through to the end… but only just. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/24 Full Review Adam B Pretty hokey and predictable. Some good imagery at times Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/17/24 Full Review Liam D A awesome mix of Abduction Thriller and possession horror movie with a few great twists Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/15/22 Full Review Audience Member I mean they don't waste any time straight into the action and straight to the point it's just a shame about the rest! No suspense no surprises and no scares. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Even a simple kidnapping without knowing your target can have hellish results. IFC films presents another one of their many horror films going to the extreme. A young girl is part of a gang of criminals' ransom scheme. They see her as a trust fund baby thinking they can score big. Six weeks later they abduct her but unfortunately they didn't count on her being possessed by a demonic force in the slightest. Now stuck in an abandoned factory the kidnappers will have to survive a night of pure evil. This thing is a devourer of tormented souls praying on people's grief and broken hearts. It needs 4 souls to form itself then it becomes strong enough to walk this earth. The movie is super fast paced and I love how it jumps immediately into gist of it all. The gore is plentiful, it's a simple enough plot, the scares are neatly packaged, and thankfully not all these characters are unlikable. The best one we follow is Sharni Vinson as Hazel. She's tired of running and just wants a do-over. She's also feeling guilty about her mom dying in a fire adding fuel to this demon's rage. Not only that but she has somewhat of a connection to Willow Street. Caryln Burchell as the girl possessed actually gives an imposing performance. She's got the dagger eyes adding to this evil's presence. Even if I could predict how the movie turns out based on the setup the combination of practical scares and a confined setting still works. This is a competent thriller that gets the job done. I'm happy too I didn't hate everyone cause that's usually the case with these things. Sometimes the thrills work with a relatively low budget as well as a small cast. 'House on Willow Street' is a worthy horror film that doesn't need to do gargantuan things. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member appalling. The acting in the set up was terrible, then the rest of the film lacked so much sense it was ridiculous! I normally give 2.5 to anything I get to the end of, but in this case I make an exception Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/25/20 Full Review Read all reviews
