Adrian Horton Guardian Even with diminished expectations, it grates. Rated: 1/5 Apr 4, 2024 Full Review Archi Sengupta LeisureByte.com Although unmemorable plot-wise, it is Sebastian Croft and Charithra Chandran who make a dent in your heart with their sincere and youthful portrayal of their characters in this YA romance film. Rated: 2.5/5 Jul 4, 2024 Full Review Jennifer Green Common Sense Media This fusion of tropes and ideas already seen in series like Sex Education, Never Have I Ever, and Heartstopper never gels despite its two promising leads. Apr 17, 2024 Full Review Jayne Nelson Radio Times Through the mess, only the likeable Chandran retains her dignity. Apr 11, 2024 Full Review Natasha Alvar Cultured Vultures How to Date Billy Walsh attempts to be this generation's answer to John Hughes' Some Kind of Wonderful. It doesn't succeed, but it does entertain in a superficial way. Rated: 6/10 Apr 10, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

Zoe H I don't mind the stylized, almost music-video vibe of the film, I think it's kind of fun and even appropriate for the subject matter (teen melodrama). What bugs me about this is that it gets *close* to real lessons or real stakes for the characters emotionally, but it backs off from direct consequences in a strange way. For example (spoilers) Millie flubs her first date with Billy by being a giant butt, and instead of apologizing for her bad behavior and maybe explaining that she took some bad advice because she was nervous, she... announces over the intercom that she pooped on the side of the road once and that her mom died. And that works, somehow. Similarly, Archie massively betrayed Millie by pretending to be the Love Doctor and instead of resolving that by talking it through with her directly, he... compares everyone in his class to stars and says he won't stand in her way again. And that also works. I know some people think this is satire but like, is this supposed to be part of the satire? Am I the one not getting it here? It feels like it would be a quick re-write to just have the characters actually acknowledge and learn from their mistakes instead of using public humiliation as some kind of sacrificial lamb-payment for those mistakes. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/13/25 Full Review Audience Member This movie is God awful💀 cast wasn't BAD but the script and set of the movie was horrible. Me and my cousin decided to watch it and it was so damn cringy and weird. It's like they took inspo from Never Have I Ever and made it into a terrible British film. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/25 Full Review Tony D Awful. Looks beautiful, talented cast. Everybody trying too hard, with a truly deplorable script and plot. Just one cliché after another. And the constant breaking the fourth wall just doesn't work. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/18/24 Full Review Bella B I love the main actress, she is so slay, but this movie is absolute dog water garbage. I love cheesy rom coms but the tropes and the way the best friend treats her, I can’t. Billy was a decent guy, I didn’t even want to watch to the end it was so garbage. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/24/24 Full Review Chinu D It’s a really good movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/15/24 Full Review Marc M I loved it for what it is. A silly rom.com. It was a very nice and enjoyable watch, it’s not supposed to be supper serious movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/29/24 Full Review Read all reviews
