Erik McClanahan IndieWire The film is often compelling, clever and entertaining, but oddly enough, these strongest moments are revealed in an awkward third act tonal and structural shift to be nothing more than filler. Rated: B- Nov 3, 2020 Full Review Patrick Peters Empire Magazine The subject matter is not always well served by the hammy, overcooked satirical treatment. Rated: 2/5 Dec 30, 2013 Full Review Leslie Felperin Guardian Deploys lots of sans serif graphics and handy statistics to explain how people escalate up the drug-dealing ladder. Rated: 3/5 Dec 26, 2013 Full Review Mat Bradley-Tschirgi Battleship Pretension [It] has great information but presents it with too much shine and shimmer. It would have been more effective if it just would have presented the facts and lost the video game aesthetic of the statistics within. Dec 8, 2020 Full Review Xan Brooks Observer (UK) It becomes a compelling, clear-sighted trip through the jungle; a documentary that rushes us in and then proceeds to point the way out. Rated: 3/5 Dec 30, 2013 Full Review Graham Young Birmingham Mail Persuasive, possessive and powerful, you'll feel like you've had a shot of nasal gold dust after just five minutes and the highs keep coming. michael f This is a complete snnozefest! I turned it off 2/3 of the way through. How or why this is rated so high is a mystery. Given that very few of the reviews are written leads me to believe they were paid for. I've seen dozens of these kinds of shows and they are nearly all better than this. Skip it! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 08/14/25 Full Review Audience Member A shockingly good look at drugs from all different angles, ie police, dealers, law makers, users, etc. The movie initially glorifies drugs but then quickly ends up showing the costs for using, ie addiction, jail time, death. The use of celebrities and ex-dealers to the tell the story adds more credibility to the movie. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This film is Fantastic Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a really unique film - the structure is awesome and I learned a lot while being entertained. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member This is still my favorite documentary film. A must see.
