Mark Kermode Observer (UK) Engagingly sympathetic portrayals of stoical working women and harassed railway guards keep us on side as the action rattles through familiar generic junctions. Rated: 3/5 Oct 18, 2015 Full Review Kate Muir The Times (UK) Soon it all gets bloody as the (somewhat unconvincing) lycanthrope goes loco on the locomotive. Rated: 2/5 Oct 15, 2015 Full Review Harrison Kelly Little White Lies Auspicious directing and acting, but ends with a whimper. Rated: 2/5 Oct 15, 2015 Full Review Emma Wolfe SpookyAstronauts All the characters were utterly annoying... the second thing was the cheese factor in this movie was very high. Rated: 3/10 Apr 30, 2021 Full Review Emilie Black Cinema Crazed The cast is good, the characters varied, and so are the attack scenes within the film's limited settings. Rated: 3.5/5 Apr 19, 2020 Full Review Joey Keogh Wicked Horror Although Howl is very funny throughout, it's also gory and bloody and often quite frightening, at the same time. Jeepers C I'm glad they still make horror movies like this. I really loved the scenario of the crashed train. The passengers now must survive the onslaught of the werewolves. It leaves the viewer with a psychological and claustrophobic feel. Who will survive out of the motley-crew of passengers on the train. Well, you will just have to watch to find out. The werewolves were cool looking and the gore was good. There was a little humor thrown in the mix also. If your a fan of Dog Soldiers, then there's a good chance you might like this movie. It's a low budget gem 💎. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/06/25 Full Review Andy B Howl is based on a standard trope - the cast are trapped somewhere and are picked off one by one. In this case, they are on a train that has become stranded in a forest and they are being picked off by strange human/wolf hybrids. Several people have commented that most of the cast are unlikeable. I felt that they were viewed the lens of Joe, the main protagonist, who is the train guard. The cast are archetypes of the sort of people that travel on trains - so much so that I wonder if the writer has worked on trains. As such, they provide a good cross-section and while some are loathsome (particulars Adrian) there are others that really had me rooting for them to survive. The train effects are clearly CGI and some people won’t like the werewolves themselves. I actually liked them as a different take on the creatures. The only time they failed for me was in the “half-turned” state which didn’t quite work. The gore effects are very good. Overall, I really enjoyed the film. Nothing in it is massively surprising but it’s an entertaining hour and a half. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/05/25 Full Review william s As a fan of cheesy creature features, I had high hopes for this one. Unfortunately, it falls into an awkward middle ground. Too low-budget and cheesy to be taken seriously, yet too slow and moody to be pure goofy fun. The monster itself was also a bit of a let down. Not bad, but not something I’d watch again. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/18/25 Full Review Sarfaraz A Paul Hyett directed this B-grade British beast movie. The plot revolves around a group of passengers who become stranded in a forest at night and are hunted by a band of werewolves. The film has a fantastic premise, and the setting outside the train in the forest is chillingly eerie. The audience is not given any background information on these packs of werewolves that are hanging out in the midst of the forest like family. However, the audience learns about certain characters and their backgrounds. The film may not push boundaries, but it is a good source to pass the time. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/25 Full Review michael p This is an excellant Werewolf movie. A very good cast and story to boot. Give it a try. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/25 Full Review Lisa B One of the worst movies I've ever seen. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/25 Full Review Read all reviews
