Alistair Ryder Gay Essential Huckleberry is two decades in the making, but it's landed at the right time as a showcase for a promising young trans actor. Audience Member It was a great film it had me glued to the screen. What made it better is you didn't know what is going to happen next. Great film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie was a great way to talk about these social issues without making it the main topic. They were side topics that were just there, like in real life Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member at first I thought that it was a great movie- you've got lots of touchy subjects that people are harsh about- transgendered people, trans relationships, interracial relationships, the list goes on, its a web that I felt was well weaved. But then I was with my friends, some who are/were trans, and they told me they took it as a movie depicting trans people in a sour light. there was misgendendering, which was not triggering to my eyes, but to those who were blatantly not being recognized for who they are. it's a situation of stepping out of your own shoes to see it another way, and also comparing it to how you see it. I can understand both sides- there's seeing the life if a trans person in a closed minded environment, and there's trauma from not being recognized as yourself within, but outside. It's definitely a movie that flipped me on my back a few times with the twists, but it's a movie out of it's time. we're still learning how to accept, and some things can be done and said differently and mean almost the same thing. it's a learning process, but as a movie, it was done pretty well. I appreciated watching it, and stayed awake throughout. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member I enjoyed the acting and the characters, but I feel like the story tried to cover too many social issues, which made the plot hard to follow. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review mark c Unusual Coming of Age Story - Interesting coming of age drama explores domestic violence, drug abuse in a small town. Good performances, locations and production values. Unconventional actors in the two lead roles turn in unexpected good performances for a low budget indie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review t t Cool indie film with a different perspective. I enjoyed it! And Music score was cool Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
