HUNTER HUNTER follows a family living in the remote wilderness earning a living as fur trappers. Joseph Mersault (Devon Sawa), his wife Anne (Camille Sullivan), and their daughter Renée (Summer H. Howell) struggle to make ends meet and think their traps are being hunted by the return of a rogue wolf. Determined to catch the predator in the act, Joseph leaves his family behind to track the wolf. Anne and Renée grow increasingly anxious during Joseph’s prolonged absence and struggle to survive without him. When they hear a strange noise outside their cabin, Anne hopes it is Joseph but instead finds a man named Lou (Nick Stahl), who has been severely injured and left for dead. The longer Lou stays and Joseph is away, the more paranoid Anne becomes, and the idea of a mysterious predator in the woods slowly becomes a threat much closer to home.

Richard Whittaker Austin Chronicle When that needle drop ends, souls have been broken. That's what makes Hunter Hunter an extraordinary entry in the modern horror canon. Rated: 4/5 Jan 4, 2021 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News Though more meat is needed on its narrative bones, Shawn Linden's backwoods horror creepfest is a mean-spirited parable about finding out who the ultimate monster is - beast or man? Rated: 2.5/4 Dec 31, 2020 Full Review Christy Lemire FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It's a very spare slow-burn, and [writer-director] Sean Lindon achieves a lot here... I was impressed by this little movie. Dec 22, 2020 Full Review Jessica Scott Nightmarish Conjurings Redefining the big bad wolf, this gut punch of a film is suspenseful, unnerving, and brutal. Oct 17, 2022 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies “Hunter Hunter” is a movie that quietly lures you in by building an interesting family dynamic worth investing in. The characters feel authentic which makes their tense and eventually frightening story resonate. Jeremy A Amazing. Slow burn that I was never bored with. The ending. wowzers in my trousers. 4.5 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/26/24 Full Review Chad M An incredible edge of your seat. The music in the end really grabbed me. Pure definition of evil. A real close look on how we can dine in pain after we are traumatized. The acting and cinematography is extraordinary and this one kept me guessing. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/11/24 Full Review Brad C Slow-paced, predictable, and very bleak Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/25/24 Full Review Leo P An absolute banger of a movie. I swear like anyone who complains about lack of realism in this movie spends too much time on reddit playing out hypotheticals about what they’d do in whatever situation and not enough time outside. The characters are great and not the typical 2D like horror robot people. Loved this so much i typed up a summary for my girlfriend when i finished watching it lol to ask her what she thought. Ps. I feel like the guy at the end when i wake up every morning Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/15/24 Full Review Daniel G Brutal, terse movie with a small focused cast. Even the exact lack of explicit motive of the serial killer - and it's no spoiler that there's one - and his knowledge that the hunter was looking for a wolf don't harm the dynamics of this intense film, though there is one enormous loop hole: what exactly happened when serial killer met hunter? It's a bonus that the locations are beautiful. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/20/24 Full Review Gerald H Wonderful. Pure horror burning itself into your soul because of its relentless realism.
