      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Although Hypnotic isn't without glimmers of inspiration, the ultimate effect of this often clunky crime caper will be to leave you feeling rather sleepy.

      Audience Consensus

Sure, Hypnotic is predictable, but it's still a fairly fun thriller with plenty of twists and turns.

Engin O Enjoyable movie. Had some fun with the premise and mystery, Ben Affleck is always entertaining, and Rodriguez always finds a way to make things fun and well directed. B-movie Inception fun Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/21/23 Full Review Mr. Hollywood Such a disappointing film from Robert and Ben. Expected way more than a generic run of the mill Firestarter knockoff. Felt like a made for cable movies from the 90s Rated 2 out of 5 stars 06/12/23 Full Review Jim Stay through the credits, a twist awaits! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/29/23 Full Review Sondra Loved all the twist of the movie, but the ending was not up too par! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/26/23 Full Review Joy Sadly it was the only movie playing that fit our schedule so we decided how bad could it be with Ben Affleck. It was pretty bad. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/24/23 Full Review Kevin Great twist to the storyline!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

James Berardinelli ReelViews This is what happens when a less-talented director tries to make a Christopher Nolan movie. Rated: 2/4 Jun 12, 2023 Full Review Mark Kermode Observer (UK) At times I was reminded of the 2015 thriller Solace, in which Anthony Hopkins helped the FBI by functioning as a sort of psychic satnav. Somehow, this is even sillier. Rated: 2/5 May 28, 2023 Full Review Charlotte O'Sullivan London Evening Standard As it is, even with the short running time, there are plenty of opportunities to notice the lack of spark between Affleck and Braga, the grating bombast of the soundtrack and the paltry special effects. Rated: 2/5 May 26, 2023 Full Review Abhishek Srivastava The Times of India Do not expect too much from the film, and there's a chance you might just enjoy it. It’s silly and absurd. Rated: 2.5/5 Dec 7, 2023 Full Review Víctor López G. Espinof Rodriguez's spirit and good intentions seem to have been lost among medium budgets —but perhaps not quite generous enough— excessive seriousness, and convoluted plots in a sort of $65 million B-movie with Nolan-esque aspirations. Rated: 5/10 Nov 21, 2023 Full Review Louisa Moore Screen Zealots A laughably bad, poorly acted movie. When nothing is real or as it seems, and you can’t trust anything you see happening, who cares? I certainly didn’t. Nov 20, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews
